Does anyone else agree with me thatr doiwnloading MP3's is a waste of
time... Why don't you just go and buy the album. I can see a point of
recording MP3's off of a CD so that you can listen to it on your PC or
on a diamond rio... but why just blatently steal the music from the
record companies and bands that will benifit from you buying the
CD/record/tape....

Ho hum I guess its the way of the future with biggere bandwidths and
faster downloads....

I still prefer to own the album myself it is nice to see them piled up
next to my hi-fi... They don't look so good stacked up on my
hard-drive... I guess thats just my materialistic nature and I can
blame Thatcher for that...

Anyway Rant over, i'd like to hear you feedback though...

Cheers

Dan

It is nice to own the CD I agree, but when record companies
charge Ł15 for a CD that costs about 30p to make it kinda sticks it in
and breaks it off dont you think. I wouldn't mind but CDs cost more in
England than anywhere else as far as i know.

I fully agree with you here, I think a file on my harddisk is kind of
anonymous and unpersonal. A cd or a record can be so much more than just
music, they can be kind of artwork, with their detailed booklets, or nice
designed covers. A piece of music I love I want to own myself, that's why
all the stuff I copied on tape from friends I either don't listen to
anymore or have bought on record or cd.

Yeah I agree with you. MP3's are actually pretty inferior in quality
compared to a CD anyway. However, I think that they're good if you want to
demo a particular band and you don't want to spend any money, or if you need
to get hold of a hard-to-get single.

I like MP3's to get to remixes, live-versions, etc. and to check a
song or album before I buy it. I don't believe in stealing the money
of an artist, and I am not to cheap to spend $10 on a good album...
but I like to check a song or two out before I buy it. If you have a
good system, an MP3 can sound really good, but I like having a CD, for
the cover, and to be able to carry it around in my beloved Discman.

Yes, I agree with that getting CD of Massive Attack is better than buying,
because they rock! but you know some music is just very hard to find, i mean
old stuff, or perhaps you don't want to buy the whole album only because of
one track, in this case, i think it's better to find a mp3. listen to it,
and eventually delete. ;-)
