An average serial killer turned folk hero simply because he performed
at children's birthday parties as Pogo the Clown. Gacy is also the
inspiration for the stage persona of Madonna Wayne Gacy, keyboard
player for Marilyn Manson.

One of the more popular serial killers, since everyone is entertained
by cannibalism.
> Wayne Williams
Despite a pretty good body count, Wayne Williams is relatively unheard
of, probably because he was black, and doesn't fit the popular
stereotype of a white, male serial killer. In fact, before Williams
was caught, the black community was blaming the murders of young black
boys on a racist white man or even the Ku Klux Klan.

Aileen Wuornos also failed to make many headlines, once again because
the media does not like serial killers who do not fit the stereotype
of white and male. She would have had better publicity if she had
eaten some of her victims.
> Henry Lee Lucas
Henry Lee Lucas did kill a few people, but confessed to hundreds of
murders which he could not have committed because he was in prison at
the time. Police eventually were forced to reopen cases they had
closed based on Lucas' false confessions. Lucas is the inspiration
for the stage persona Sarah Lee Lucas, original drummer for Marilyn
Manson.
> Charles Manson (bisexual queer)
Charlie is The King, no doubt about it. Charlie may have had some
bisexual experiences when he was younger, but seems to have been
mostly heterosexual, attracting a group of young female followers who
were willing to kill for him. Manson, of course, is the inspiration
for the stage persona Marilyn Manson, who chose the name to illustrate
his philosophy that all Americans really care about are dead
celebrities and serial killers. Marilyn Monroe is a famous dead
celebrity, and Charles Manson is a famous serial killer who killed
celebrities.
