I wonder who you think you are? is a famous quote from the mother of one of
the girls killed by the Yorkshire Ripper said to camera outside the court
room in Leeds.

It definitely was and it's well documented in the FAQ: one thing
though, does anyone know who it was that said that in any more detail?
I've always wanted to know but everyone's always answered with a
"mother of one of the victims" type response.

UPDATED! New, smoother, with nicer pics ;-)

They're Irish, very talented musicans, the girls are nice looking, and
they're really nice folks.
According to some old FAQ I found kicking around my computer it was...
"from the mother of one of the girls killed by the Yorkshire Ripper.Said
to camera's outside the court room in Leeds where the trial was being
held"
No names mentioned though.
Dundalk. The Short bios, is just a statistical thing, I'll update if I get
time.

Um, main things are read the FAQ and spell Richey's name right!

Thanks Dan, that's really interesting - will check it out! That line about
maggots was one Richey had been saving for a while, because it appears in
"Seven Days in the life of Richey James" which was written when GT was being
recorded...

I think TIMT is a brilliant, if different, offering from the Manics.
They are definitely mellowing out but I see it as a change of pace and a
brilliant one at that. By the way, what love songs are there on TIMT? I
would love to be enlightened.
Dan.
Personally (he says ducking for cover) I bought it, played it for about a
week, and then returned it! I still have everything else of theirs' I can
lay my hands on though (thanks Samir, and Archives web manager). Although, I
confess, some of the live versions of TIMTTMY songs are beginning to grow on
me.

Welcome to another New Zealand Manics fan; yes, NZ not a good place for
Manics fans. 'Tolerate' was thrashed on radio, but even played at parties
no-one recognises it. 'Motorcycle Emptiness' - which bFM still play
occasionally - appears to be the only early MSP song even moderately known
here. And they didn't show up at the Big Day Out 'cos they had to flit
through the States instead. Sigh.
Peter Cresswell
It's a different kettle of fish altogether really. A more mellowed-out,
musically-led affair rather than the in-your-face lyrical barrage of
their earlier works. Certainly not a bad album (although the production
drains a lot from it)... Just different. :)

Where are the love songs on TIMTTMY?

You Stole The Sun From My Heart?
Thank you, that would be great - I'll settle for a title but the poem would
be even better!

http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/~esweb/ the "This Is Yesterday" site has
"Seven Days..." and interviews.
'You Stole The Sun From My Heart'. "I love you all the same".
First time (AFAIK) those three words have been mentioned in a Manics
song.

I think your probably right. On a different note, which Manics song is their
first 'love' song?..I know the band said they wouldn't do a love song, but I
guess 'Further Away' is one....but what about 'Behave Yourself Baby'? Isn't
that one? Is 'Hibernation' a love song or just a cynical, sneering love
song? 'Love torn us under'..is that about love? 'Comfort Comes'....a lack of
love song?

I got most of the way through it, but i wouldn't recommend it, unless
you have a bizarre interest, or time to kill.
Makes you wonder just how widely Richey/Nicky have read to be able to
pull in such an obscure quote.
