When my brother and I were in elementary school, a christmas song came
out about a dog named Snowball. It came out in the late 60's to early 70's.
Two children, a boy and a girl were way too excited about what Santa was
going to bring them for Christmas, to pay any attention to their dog,
Snowball. He became upset and ran away from home.
The children became upset and began to cry, and then decided all they
wanted for Christmas is for Santa to bring their dog Snowball home.
I believe he found Snowball on the side of the street, and brought him
back home on Christmas Eve.
The following is sort of what I remember as the last stanza of the song.
“At the bottom of the stairs, in a stocking, it looked like an ice cream
cone. Was a merry merry Christmas after all. Santa brung Snowball home.
Was a merry merry Christmas after all Santa brung Snowball home.
Google wasn't very helpful here. The only reference to (possibly) this

Absolutely adorable eleven track compilation from Total Gaylord
Records. Eleven slices of sugary sweet US indie, really gorgeous,
infectious little pop songs, often reminiscent of sixties girl groups,
featuring such current American indie favourites as The Icicles, The
Diskettes, Thee Moths, etc. Definitely worth buying.
