Does anyone have the lyrics to "Here she comes, just a-walkin' down the street,
singing doo way diddy diddy dum diddy doo?" Who does that song? I'd
appreciate it if someone could send me the lyrics. Thanks.

DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY
- written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich
- as recorded by Manfred Mann on their 1964 #1 single (HMV 1282)
- originally recorded by US group The Exciters

There she was just a-walkin' down the street,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
She looked good (looked good), she looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good, she looked fine and I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
We walked on (walked on) to my door (my door)
We walked on to my door, then we kissed a little more

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love
Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love
Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay,
singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh yeah
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, we'll sing it
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, oh yeah, oh, oh yeah
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY
Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich

There she was just a-walkin' down the street,

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
Poppin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet,
singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
She looked good, LOOKED GOOD
she looked fine, LOOKED FINE
she looked good, she looked fine
and I nearly lost my mind.

Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me,

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.

Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be,

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
We walked on WALKED ON
to my door, MY DOOR
we walked on to my door,

then we kissed a little more.
Wo-o-o-oh, I knew we were falling in love,
yes I did, and so I told her all the things
that I'd been dreamin' of.

Now we're together nearly every single day

We're so happy and that how we're gonna stay
singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
Well I'm hers, I'M HERS
she's mine, SHE'S MINE

I'm hers, she's mine,

wedding bells are gonna chime.

Sing do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do,
do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do,
do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.

Do you know a place called Do Wah Diddy ?
Well it ain't no town, and it ain't no city.
It's mighty small, but it's awful pretty.
Do Wah Diddy.

As Mr. Natural sez,
"If you don't know by now, lady, don't *mess* with it!"

Happy trails,

I see you got the lyrics as well as the composers of the song. I
don't see the answer to your other question about the performer. It
was Manfred Mann in 1964 who reached # 1 on US charts with that
lyrical masterpiece. I don't believe that Manfred did the vocals in
his group, however, and I wish I knew the name of the vocalist on this
song.

I believe it was Paul Jones, the group's vocalist from '62 to '66.

Happy trails,
Larry B.

Sung by Manfred Mann. Here you go!

DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY

There she was just a-walkin' down the street,
singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
Poppin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet,
singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
She looked good, LOOKED GOOD
she looked fine, LOOKED FINE

she looked good, she looked fine
and I nearly lost my mind.

Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me,

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.

Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be,

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
We walked on WALKED ON
to my door, MY DOOR
we walked on to my door,
then we kissed a little more.

Wo-o-o-oh, I knew we were falling in love,

yes I did, and so I told her all the things

that I'd been dreamin' of.

Now we're together nearly every single day

singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.

We're so happy and that how we're gonna stay
singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.
Well I'm hers, I'M HERS
she's mine, SHE'S MINE

I'm hers, she's mine,

wedding bells are gonna chime.

Singin' do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do,

do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do,
do-wah diddy-diddy down diddy-do.

- Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich
