Does anyone out there know the full lyrics to this song? I've been searching
everywhere and can only come up with werid versions . Nobody seem to know the
section that begins "......can't you hear me talkin to ya -just a ball of
confusion!" the beginning section is almost impossible to interpret---can
anyone help with this???

Track Title: Ball Of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today)

Album Title: Motown Hitsville, USA, Volume 1 disc 4
Prime Artist: The Temptations
Producer: Norman Whitfield
Written by: Barrett Strong

Written by: Norman Whitfield

Lyrics:

People moving out,
People moving in.
why, because of the color of their skin
run, run, run but you sho' can't hide

An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,
vote for me and I'll set you free
rap on , brother, rap on

The only person talking about love thy brother is the preacher
and it seems
nobody's interested in learning
but the teacher

segregation, determination, demonstration, intergration,
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation

Ball of confusion, oh yeah
That's what the world is today, hey

The sale of pills is at an all time high
young folks walking round with their heads in the sky
the cities ablaze in the summertime, and oh
the beat goes on

evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul
shooting rockets to the moon
kids growing up too soon
politicians say more taxes, will solve everything
and the band played on

So, round and around we go
where the world's ending, nobody knows

Oh, oke kaboke(?), can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion, oh yeah
that's what the world is today, hey

Fear in the air, tension everywhere
unemployment rising fast, the Beatles new record's a gas
and the only safe place to live, is on an indian reservation
and the band played on

Eve of destruction, tax deduction
city inspectors, bill collectors
mod clothes in demand,
population out of hand,
suicide, too many bills
hippies moving to the hills
people all over the world are shouting end the war
and the band played on

Oh, oke kaboke(?), can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion,
that's what the world is today, hey

Many thanks for posting these lyrics, which I've also wanted for a long
time.

Just questioning one stance, which I'm really hearing differently. You have:

>So, round and around we go
>where the world's ending, nobody knows

I'm hearing:

So, round and around and around we go
where the world is heading, nobody knows

I've listened to this over and over and keep getting "my version."

It's so weird to see your stuff come back around in the NG.....

I have a page of older R&B lyrics at
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Alley/5201/RandB/VintageRandB.html

FoxFirebur got an older copy of the lyric (direct or indirect, I don't
know); someone suggested some corrections to me a few weeks back (Great
Googamooga), and on listening carefully, I also came to Su's
conclusion. The corrected lyric:

You mean I'm right? Cool beans. The hearing has gone with the age yet.

But check the song again, I have the song and I'm still hearing "where the
WORLD IS heading" rather than "where the world's heading."

^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^

Su,

I just noticed a small discrepancy. You keep hearing the "where the
world is headING" whereas Todd & Sharon provided "where the world's
headED".

I'll tell you where the world is headed ... argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <g>

You know you're getting old when you worry about the declining morality of
the youth. I've got teens and I think I'm going into mass panic.
