Please ID the artist that sang this song:
"What if I was Romeo in black jeans, what if I was Heathcliff,
its no myth, what if I was looking for someone to dance with?
Thanks

That song is "No Myth" by Michael Penn. I don't remember which album it
is on, but I know that it is NOT on the "Free for all." releace. (Good
album though!)

"No Myth", by Michael Penn, off his album "March."

It's by Michael Penn, off his album March.

I've been a Michael Penn fan for several years. I was a bit "put off" by
the fact that he's Sean Penn's brother, but liked the song so I took the
plunge -- very glad I did.
You might not be impressed the first time you listen, but after while
you begin to appreciate the depth and complexity of his music.... not to
mention the variety of instruments (one is a hurdy-gurdy).
He has two CDs -- March and Free-For-All. March is definitely
stronger, but both are worth the investment -- particularly if you
consider your tastes go beyond mainstream rock.
Excelsior!

The actual title of the song is "No Myth", from the chorus:

What if I were Romeo in black jeans?
What if I were Heathcliff? It's no myth.
Maybe she's just looking for someone to dance with.

It was written and recorded by Michael Penn (Sean's brother) in 1992 or
1993.

Keep on singing,
