I don't know where to find it, but if I remember correctly my Dad used to
sing:
Mares eat oats and Does eat oats
And little lambs eat ivy
A kid will eat ivy too
Wouldn't you?
: Does anyone know where on the Web I could find the nursery rhyme
: / children's song, that starts off:
: "Mares eat oats, and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy."?
Mares eat oats, and does eat oats
And little lambs eat ivy
A kid'll eat ivy too
Wouldn't you?
Now if these words sound
Unfamiliar to your ear
Let's try them once again
And see if you can hear. . .
(repeat first verse)
The whole point of this song is that the words are all slurred together,
so that it sounds like "maresy doats, and doesy doats, and little lambsy
divey." Hope that helps.

This song was recorded by Bing Crosby. I'm sure it's on one of his
"Greatest Hits" collections.

And then you repeat the verse, and follow it with the
following:
It may sound queer
And funny to your ear
A little bit jumbled and jivey
Just sing
Mares eat oats, and does eat oats
And little lambs eat ivy
(enunciate the last two lines clearly)
Mareseatoats and doeseatoats
Andlittlelambseativy
A kid'lleativytoo
Wouldn't you?
You sing the first three lines real mushed together for the
effect. There was another verse that went
Whales eat snails
And snails eat eels
And little eels eat oysters
A kid'll eat oysters too
Wouldn't you?
But it does not work as well.
@ and dozy doats and little lambs see divy a kid'll eat ivy too wouldn't
you if the words sound queen and funny to your ear a little bit jumbled
and jivy mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy @ i
know a ditty nutty as a fruit cake goofy as a goon and silly as a loon
some call it pretty others call it crazy but they all sing this tune @

The correct lyrics are as follows:
Oh, Mares eat oats, and does eat oats,
And little lambs eat ivy
A kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?
If the words sound queer
And funny to your ear,
Just a little bit jumbledy-jivey
Just say "mares eat oats"
And "Does eat oats"
And little lambs eat Ivy,
Then repeat the chorus.

I don't know if there is any more but it's a start!

mares eat oats and does eat oats
and little lambs eat ivy
kids'll eat ivy too;
wouldn't you.
I don't know if there is anymore but at least this is a start!
Marezy doats and dozey doats and little lamzidivy,
a kiddleetivey too, wouldn't you?
Oh! Marezy doats and dozey doats and little lamzidivy,
a kiddleetivey too, wouldn't you?
If the words sound queer and funny to your ear,
A little bit jumbled and jivey.
Now, mares eat oats and does eat oats,
And little lambs eat ivy - Oh!
Marezy doats and dozey doats and little lamzidivy,
a kiddleetivey too, wouldn't you?
Oh! Marezy doats and dozey doats and little lamzidivy,
a kiddleetivey too, wouldn't you?
