Who can help to identify this one from the late seventies or beginning
of the eighties ?

I remember vaguely some lyrics of the refrain (?)

Solomon(-a-)Ghandi (?)
he was born on a .... day
making love on a ... day
....

Oho - oho ...
...

It sounded like Boney M. / Saragossa band / Goombay Dance which might
lead to something European.

I tried to find something using the google archive but to no avail so
far. Maybe it is a spelling issue....

Any advice is highly appreciated

Solomon Grundy
A nursery rhyme

Solomon Grundy,
Born on Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday:
This is the end
Of Solomon Grundy

A band called Solomon Grundy(with Van Conner of the Screaming Trees) put
their version out on a 1990 album. No lyrics available, so I don't know if
this is the correct version.

Now that sounds like the correct lyrics but the music I remember came
from the late seventies (AFAIR). Interesting to see that it is a nursery
rhyme. I investigated/googled a bit with the 'Grundy' term and got
another link to a batman movie. Still not the one I was looking for.

Maybe it was one of the numerous Frank Farian production that never made
it into the big wild world ? i.e. released in Germany only ?

(Almost) Clueless

The 9th reply:

Solomon Grundy was the name of a Super Friends(Batman and Robin, Superman,
Wonder Woman, et al) comic villain. He was a member of the Legion of Doom,
along with Bizzaro, Lex Luthor, Joker, and others, including my favorite
Mxyzptlk. Solomon was portrayed as an imbecilic albino zombie.

The 9th reply:

Perhaps. Did you search the days of the week( or some of the other lyrics)
in German? This may lead to a translation page.

AFAIK, this song was never released in the German language, I was only
speculating it was a 'Germans only' thing like so many Farian
productions. I already tried to research with a few lines but to no
avail so far. The best google hit was your immediate reply with the
lyrics in it ;)

I guess King Solomon's name will remain unchanged, all we need is
someone who translates 'grundy' into something meaningful (in case there
is a meaning to this word other than being a surname)

The name Solomon Grundy was around LONG before "SuperFriends"/etc.
I don't recall the reference, but I'm thinking it was in
some 18th/19th century semi-classic book. I think that
nursery rhyme is at least that old.

Artist : Amanda Lear
Title : Solomon Gundie (!)
Year : 1980

http://amandalear.tripod.com/042_solomon_gundie_80.htm

The single has been released in France and Italy, probably in Germany as
well. Note the slightly different spelling that seems to have fooled
google a bit.

AFAIR, it was quite popular on the disco dancefloor then. Don't ask me
why... :)

I've also found traces to a Jamaican ska artist called Eric Morris, the
song classified as 'west-indian ska' from 1964. ( Black Swan WI414 )

Thanks and merry Xmas
