Does anyone know who sang that song "it's summertime, summertime, sum sum
summertime, summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime...
summertiiiiiiiiiiiime"?
if you could send a copy of your reply to my e-mail address it would be much
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Suzanna
Dear Suzanna,
the lyrics you quoted are a little confusing, nevertheless they remind me
of a 70s song by Harpo. Since you seem to come from the Netherlands as well,
maybe you mean that one.
Best regards,
Steffen

Harpo Dutch? Maybe that wasn't what you meant, but he was and is still
Swedish...

The Jamies had a hit with "Summertime Summertime" in both 1958 and
1962. I think that's the one you're looking for.

Your lyrics perfectly fit the song
"Summertime Summertime" by Hobby Horse.
The record was issued in 1972 and produced by Tony Visconti, who had
worked with David Bowie and T. Rex (among many others). The then
famous Mary Hopkin ("Those Were The Days") who mas married to Tony
Visconti can be heared on the mentioned record.
Hope this helps.
Franz.

Whether he's Swedish or Dutch or anything else, he wasn't the one
who originated this song. It was a top 40 hit in 1958 for a group
called The Jamies.
Lyrics World should have the lyrics.

This must have been a cover of the original, which was
a hit for The Jamies in 1958.
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime Summertime
Well shut them books and throw ´em away

And no more dull geometery it´s summertime
It´s time to head straight for them hills, it´s time to live and have some

If your folks complain just say it´s summertime
Well I´m so happy that I could flip
Oh how I love to take a dip
I´m sorry teacher but zip your lip it´s summertime
It´s time to head straight for them hills, it´s time to live and have some
thrills Come along and have a ball, a regular free for all It´s summertime
Well it´s summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime
Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime Summertime
