This is a real oldie. I know the lyrics, but am looking for an artist. It
goes:
Mary Lou, Mary Lou, cross my heart I love you. All the bells in the steeple
are ready to ring. And all the people are planning pretty presents all for
you, Mary Lou. Won't you give your promise, do? And for miles around they're
waiting to start the celebrating, when you say, "I do", Mary Lou. Can anybody
help with the name of an artist who recorded this one?

Sorry, Harold--just listened to Ronnie Hawkins' tune--nothing like these
lyrics. He spends all his time complaining about how Mary Lou "she took
my diamond ring, she took my eatch and chain" and "she took the keys to
my Cadillac car"

Oh, well. That's why I used a qualifier. I try to make it clear
whether I really know something or am just taking an educated guess.
So Ronnie Hawkins had a different song with the same title. Rats.
Lowers my batting average a fraction. :(

Both Bing Crosby and Louis Prima made recordings of Mary Lou (the one with the lyrics you remember).
