Several mentioning 'Christopher Columbus'.
(I like NY in June)"How About You" - which as well as 'Gershwin', has
'Franklin Roosevelt' (or another name, depending on the performer).
James' - Just Like Fred Astaire.
I'm Henry the Eighth I Am.
If you're old enough, or watch old movies, you'll know that this refers to the
famous dance team of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers!
I imagine this group will come up with a very long list of songs with famous
people in the lyrics.
By the way, Elton John sang 'Candle In The Wind', from the 'Goodbye Yellow
Brick Road' album. The song refers to Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jean). Does the
new version count as referring to Princess Diana, even though she is not named
in the song? I have two names for the song in my files:
Candle In The Wind - Lady Di
Candle In The Wind (Goodbye England's Rose)
but I'm not sure which one is correct.

'Life is a Rock' was WELL before Blondie =)
Although Blondie was easier on the eyes...
But if you add a beat...Life is a Rock.

A bit eighties and probably a bit UK... and probably not that famous now
but....
Many UK famous people can be found in...a good number of the tracks on the
album "Back In The DHSS" by the seminal UK band Half Man Half Biscuit
Tracks include... the wonderful "I Hate Nerys Hughes" and "99% of Gargoyles
look like Bob Todd" to name but a few
Also...
"John Kettley is a weatherman" by Tribe of Toffs which not only mentions
John himself but also several other weather people such as Ian McGaskill
(sic) and Wincy Willis
"Albert Hoffmans Bike"... by The Family Cat also springs to mind....
