Hello...........

Thanks for taking a minute to read this post. Who the hell sings that
cheesy 70's tune with the line....."Skyrockets in flight, afternoon
delight". It kinda sounds like Abba, but I was told it's not.........

A friend of mine (yes, really...it's not for me) is looking for the
artist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..........Thanks.......

Could it be that Grammy winning supergroup Starland Vocal Band?
(I'm almost ashamed of knowing that....)

It's "Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band, and was a hit in 1976. A
friend tells me that it's one of the three records they play on Radio 2,
alongside "All Around My Hat" by Steeleye Span, and "Both Sides Now" by Judy
Collins!

Extremely unlikely. SVB was always, AFAIK, Bill Danoff (who wrote the
song, and also "Country Roads"), Taffy Nivert Danoff, Jon Carroll (all
three from the DC area), and Margot Chapman, originally from Honolulu.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Happy trails,
Larry B.

It's the "Starland Vocal Band" which backed up Joh Denver for awhile. And
your right--it's cheesy!
