In article <4nlnb6$1...@sparky.midwest.net>,

I think it's "Wildwood Flower", and the beginning goes:

Wildwood flower grew wild on the farm
We never knew what it was called
Some said it was a flower, some said it was a weed
I never gave it much thought

One day I was talkin to my brother
I reached down for a weed to chew on
Things got fuzzy, then things got blurry
Then everything was gone!

When I come to, my brother was there
He said, "What's wrong with your eyes?"
I said, "I don't know, I was chewin on a weed."
He said, "Lemme give it a try!"

We spent the rest of that day and most of that night
Trying to find my brother Bill
Caught up to him about 3 o'clock the next morning
Naked, singin on the windmill!
(he said he flew up there, had to fly up and get him
down,' as he was about half-crazy)

The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds
And put 'em in the sun to dry
Then we mashed 'em up, and cleaned 'em off
Threw 'em in a corncob pipe.

Smoking them wildwood flowers got to be a habit
(....) it couldn't do much harm
We thought it was kind of handy
Take a trip and never leave the farm!

(some verse about the gov't man coming to burn out the crop,
anti-gov't sunprograms have corrupted these memory cells)

I just smiled and waved, sittin on that sack of seeds! ;-)

Peace,

Here you go.

Well the wildwood flower is an old counrty classic
that's gained a whole new popularity. The song isn't
doing any better but the flower is doing REAL good.

Now the Wildwood weed grew wild on the farm
But we'd never knowed what it was called
Some said It's a flower some said it's a weed
But I never give it much thought
One day I was up there talking to my brother
And I reached down for a weed to chew on
Things got fuzzy and things got blurry
Then everything was gone
I didn't know what happened
but I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap

When I come to my brother was there
He said "What's wrong with your eyes?"
I says I don't know I was chewing on a weed
He said Let me git it a try
I spent the rest of that day and most of that night
Tryin' to find my brother Bill
Caught up with him about six o'clock the next mornin'
Naked, sittin' on the windmill
He said he flew up there
I had to fly up and get him down, he's about half crazy

Well the very next day we picked a bunch them weed
And we put 'em in the sun to dry
Then we mashed 'em up and cleaned them off
Put 'em in a corn cob pipe
Now smokin' that wildwood flower got to be a habit
But we never see'd no harm
We thought it was kinda handy

Take a trip and never leave the farm

Get to smokin' that flower next thing you know
You're walkin' around behind those little animals

All good thing got to come to an end
It's the same with the wildwood weed
One day this fella' from Washington come by
Spied on us and turn white as a sheet
And he dug and he burned and he burned and he dug
And he killed all our cute little weeds
Then he drove away and we just smiled and waved
Sittin' there on that sack of seeds.
Y'all come back now, hear
-Jim Stafford-
