I am looking for lyrics of any song containing the word 'CADILLAC'. My
brother owns one of these great cars, and now we want to have some
music to play in the car. What would be more appropriate than songs,
in which the name of the car is mentioned??????
Thanx in advance,

Franck

Pink Cadillac - Bruce Springsteen (this was the b-side of a 45; I don't
know if it was ever issued on a cassette or cd)

Cadillac Ranch - Bruce Springsteen (LP "The River")

*Mary Lou - Steve Miller Band (LP "The Joker")
*Mary Lou - Bob Seger (LP "Night Moves")
*These two are the same song by two different artists - they contain the
line "...she took the keys to my Cadillac car, jumped in my Caddy and she
drove off far..."

Maybelline - Chuck Berry (Chuck's V8 ford races a Cadillac Coupe de Ville)
(this should be on any Chuck Berry compilation)

Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen (Cody's
Lincoln races a Cadillac) (LP "Lost in the Ozone")

Thes are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of
others I'll post to the group.

Regards,
Tommy

Arlo Guthrie's "Lightnin' Bar" - "I don't need no diamond ring, Don't need
no Cadillac car. Just want to drink my Ripple wine down at the Lightning
Bar."

Marc Cohn's (is that name right? the guy who did Walking in Memphis)
"Silver Thunderbird," in a way: "You can keep your Eldorado, and your
foreign car's absurd. Me, I wanna go down in a Silver Thunderbird."

The BB King standard (i know it by Duane Allman) "How Blue Can You Get":
"I bought you a new Ford, You said 'I want a Cadillac.' Bought you a
ten-dollar dinner, You said 'Thanks for the snack.' "

How about "One Part at a Time" by Johnny Cash? He sings
about stealing parts from Cadillac factory and making
his own. I may remember the title a little incorrectly.

And another one: who sang "My baby drove up in a brand
new Cadillac"? I believe the title was "Cadillac".

Then totally off-topic: why don't you buy him a Sokal
comic album, "White Cadillac".

Freeway of Love -- Aretha Franklin
"Let's get in my pink cadillac..."

There's this refrain from one song that's kept me puzzling:

"Come on in my pink cadillac, pink cadillac.
Let's drive my pink cadillac, pink cadillac."

I know it couldn't be Aretha Franklin's song that I aformentioned, but
some other song that I heard some time ago. Any clues who sang that
tune?

3. Long White Cadillac - Dwight Yoakam (both of these are on his greatest
hits cd "Just Lookin' for a Hit")

4. Cadillac Slim - Rick Brahm (can't help you with this one - it was
suggested by a friend at work)

5. Freeway of Love - Aretha Franklin ("...we're goin' ridin' on the
freeway of love in a pink Cadillac...")

6. Pink Cadillac - Natalie Cole (a remake of the Springsteen song)

7. Anthony's Song - Billy Joel ("...and he's trading in his Chevy for a
Cadillac-ac-ac-ac...")

8. The Boys of Summer - Don Henley ("...out on the road today I saw a
"dead head" sticker on a Cadillac...")

9. Beep Beep - The Playmates ("...I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a
car to scorn..."

"Pink Cadillac" was also recorded by Aretha Franklin, that's the
version most known to me
Also "Be Thankful For What You Got" by William DeVaughn -
"Though you may not drive
A great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antenna in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember, brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall
Just be thankful for what you got"
It's an old 70s soul/funk song, I don't know how well-known it is.

That's all I can think of for now...I'll post more later if they come
to me :)

Just remembered Jim Croce's "Don't Mess around with Jim" refers to a

sound funny, but I come to get my money back . . . "

Okay, I thought of another one - "Highway Chile" by Jimi Hendrix

"His guitar slung across his back
His dusty boots, it's his Cadillac
Flamin' hair just a-blowin' in the wind
Ain't seen a bed in a so long, it's a sin
Now you might call him a tramp
But it goes a little deeper than that, he's a...
Highway chile"

No, it's NOT "Hot Rod Licoln". The line from H.R.L. goes

All of a sudden in the wink of an eye,
A Cadillac sedan passed us by.

Now, the lines from "Maybelline":

As I was motorvatin over the hill
I saw Maybelline in a Coupe de Ville
Cadillac doin' 'bout 95
We was bumper to bumper and side by side

Maybelline, why can't you be true ?
