You asked two questions:
Q #1 What the the lyric "why dont he P.L.P. with me down at the meter
>anymore" mean?

A #1: I think that lyric is:
How come he don't come down t' be with me at the Villa de LaMar

Q#2: >Also what is "pantages"

A#2: The Pantages is a theater in Los Angeles

Here are the entire lyrics:

Chuck E's In Love
- Rickie Lee Jones

How come he don't come down t' be with me at the Villa de LaMar
How come he turn off that T.V. and hang that sign on the door
Well we called and we called I got to say,
"Hey what could make a boy behave this a way"?

Well he learned all of the lines now let me tell you he don't s-stutter when
he talks.
It's true it's true, he sure has acquired this kinda cool and inspirin' sort
of jazz when he walks
Wearin' his jacket and his old blue jeans
Hey, this aint healthy it is some kinda claim
That's if...

Chuck E's In Love
Chuck E's In Love

I don't believe what you're sayin' to me. This is somethin' I've got to see.
Is he here....I look in the pool hall
Is he here....I look in the drug store
Is he here....no he don't come ' round here no more.

I tell you what, I saw him. He was sittin' behind us down at the Pantages.
And whatever it is that he's got up his sleeve, well, I hope it isn't
contagious.
What's her name? Is that her right there?
Oh Christ, I think he's even combed his hair.
And is that her, well then what's her name?
Oh it's never gonna be the same.
That's not her. I know the score cuz
Chuck E's in love w/the little girl singin' this song
Don't you know....

Thanks for the transcription.
Also Chuck E. himself has a great new CD Extremely Cool.
Can he match the title? Think so.

No, it's not.

How come he don't come and p.l.p. with me
Down at the meter no more?

I don't know what p.l.p means either, but it definitely hasn't been asked a
jillion times or I'd sure know what.

Thanks Scal!

I'd been trying to remember to look up the lyrics on the album...

These are the lyrics on the album (with, of course, no explanation of
"p.l.p." to be found) Now, just because these are on the album, doesn't
necessarily mean they are the words she sings, but ... here ya go.

That's what's copyrighted and printed on the back of the record. No, it's not
exactly what she sings, but she is certainly not singing whatever Childof60s
interpreted it as.

As for what's being sung, it's below. She doesn't change anything major -- just
inserts a few 'hey's, a few 'no's a few 'well's.

(Off the side, am I the only one who hated this song and liked 'Young Blood'
better?)

How come he don't come and p.l.p with me

Down at the meter no more?

And how come he turn off the t.v.

And he hang that sign on the door?

"How come?" we say
Hey, what could make a boy behave this a-way, yeah

Which is why I leave the transcribing to the likes of Ron, Todd, Erin and Wayne
;)

Of course nobody's perfect. Not even Ron ... that's why it took the two of us
and three other people four tries to figure out that one line in that bloody
Brooklyn Bridge song. (That's the last time I take the initiative to transcribe
anything).

Lyrics World has the correct lyrics for 'Chuck E.'s' by the way. Nice change of
pace, since the last four songs I checked there were screwed-up.

'Chuck E.'s' was total schlock -- annoying and simpering, sounds like it was
written in five minutes -- in other words the perfect candidate for Top 5
success.

I once started to compose a list of all the artists where their biggest hit was
just about my least favourite song by them. Got as far as the "C"s I think
before I ran out of paper.
