I'm searching for the lyrics to an old song that started off with the
lyrics, "Ka-ka-Katie." Which may be the title.
I'm trying to put together a novelty present for my daughter (Katie) and
this song is VERY hard to track down. Seems as though everybody from the WW
II generation knows this song when I ask about it, but nobody knows the
exact title.
Thanks in advance!!
K-K-K-Katy
Melody - Geoffrey O'Hara
Jimmy was a soldier brave and bold,
Katy was a maid with hair of gold,
Like an act of fate,
Kate was standing at the gate,
Watching all the boys on dress parade,
Jimmy with the girls was just a gawk,
Stuttered ev'ry time he tried to talk,
Still that night at eight,
He was there at Katy's gate,
Stuttering to her this love sick cry.
|: K-K-K-Katy, beautiful Katy,
You're the only g-g-g-girl that I adore;
When the m-m-m-moon shines,
Over the cowshed,
I'll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door. :|
No one ever looked so nice and neat,
No one could be just as cute and sweet,
That's what Jimmy thought,
When the wedding ring he bought,
Now he's off to France the foe to meet.
Jimmy thought he'd like to take a chance,
See if he could make the Kaiser dance,
Stepping to a tune,
All about the silv'ry moon,
This is what they hear in far off France.
|: K-K-K-Katy, beautiful Katy,
You're the only g-g-g-girl that I adore;
When the m-m-m-moon shines,
Over the cowshed,
I'll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door. :|

Ka-ka-ka-Kati, minu armas Kati,
sa oled ainus, ke-ke-kes mind võlund!
Kui saabub õhtu, nälg näpib kõhtu,
siis te-te-tervitan sind köögi akna all.
Ka-ka-ka-Kati, tule siia, Kati
ma ki-ki-kingin sulle siidirätiku,
Ka-ka-ka-Kati, kui lüpsad lehmi,
ma oo-oo-oo-oo-ootan lauda ukse ees.
Ku-ku-kuu paistab üle lehmalauda,
su järel jooksen pa-pa-paljajalu ma.
Ka-ka-ka-Kati, tule siia, Kati,
ma ki-ki-kingin sulle kuuma suudluse!

It's "K-K-K-Katy". Entering that phrase in Alta Vista
comes up with over 50 hits.
Most people know only the chorus of the song. These are the
words to it:
K-K-K-Katy
K-K-K-Katy, beautiful Katy,
You're the only g-g-g-girl that I adore.
When the m-m-moon shines over the cow-shed,
I'll be waiting at your k-k-k-kitchen door.
There actually were a couple of verses, as well, but I couldn't
find them on the web. You might, if you want to spend the time
checking out more of the search results.
Here's a history of the song, if you're interested:

About a year ago, we went to a small concert given by Tom and were
struck by the reverence and love he put into his presentation of that
song... written for his daughter and pure lovely.
