Does any know where I can get the lyrics, music or recording for John
Stanleys song called "IT'S IN THE BOOK" The song was a satire on old
time religious revival meetings and was very well done and funny. The
songs I can remember but it's the take off on the revival part that I
want.

correct name for artist is johnny standley; recorded for capitol records
around 1952 or 53; it sold well and the original 45 or 78 still shows up
regularly amongst collectors; i don't know if it has yet been reissued on
cd--if i had to guess i would say probably so, most likely on an anthology
of comedy or 50s songs. go to a high powered record store and look in the
phonolog.

Sorry I can't be more precise, but I did see it on a Dr. Demento
collection. Maybe this info can get you on the right track, at least.

I have a 45 RPM album of it along with Rockabye Baby and Clap your
hands. It is with Horace Heidt and his Musical Knights and, I believe,
is as it was recorded on the old Horace Heidt Show on the Radio. Your
are correct about the spelling and Capitol records. Paul in Portland OR

You might want to ask about this in alt.music.dementia...
they know everything.
ask them, they'll tell you.
