What's the song that's got the chorus:

"Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche, another rumor in the
night"

I think it might be by someone like Billy Joel or someone.
There was even a skit about this song on Just For Laughs a few years ago,
with 4 guys playing cards, arguing about the lyrics, like "It's washed up
by a shoe, another loser in the fight. (other guy) No, it's wrapped up like
a douche. (another guy) What the hell does wrapped up like a douche mean??"

So, anyone know the song, and most importantly the lyrics?

Blinded By The Light

(Bruce Springsteen)

>Verse 1
Madman drummers bummers indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat,
in the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way in to his
hat. With a boulder on my shoulder feeling kinda' older I tripped the
merry go 'round, with this very unpleasing sneezing and weezing the
caliope crashed to the ground.

>Chorus
The caliope crashed to the ground and she was blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.

>Verse 2
Some silicone sister with her manager mister told me I got what it takes
, she said I'll turn you on sonny to something strong play the song with
the funky break and go kart mozart was checkin' out the weather chart
see if it was safe outside and little Early Pearly came by in his curly
wurly and asked me if I needed a ride.

>Chorus
Asked me if I needed a ride and she was Blinded By The Light, revved up
like a deuce, another runner in the night, Blinded by the light...she
got
down but she never got tight she's gonna make it throught the
night...she's gonna' make it throught the night.

>Break
Mama always told me not to look in tho the eyes of the sun, but mama,
that's where the fun is.

>Verse 3 (album only)
Some brimstone baritone anti cyclone rolling stone preacher from the
east, says Dethrone the Dictaphone hit it in his funny bone and that's
where they expect it least and some new mown chaperone was standing in
the corner watching the young girls dance and some fresh sewn moonstone
was messing with his frozen zone reminding him of romance.

>Chorus
The caliope crashed to the ground and she was blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.

>Round begins
>>Chris Thompson repeats chours.
>>Manfred Mann flys through the verses.

Additional Manfred Mann lyrics heard only during round.

Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover
in the sand and some bloodshot forget me not his daddy's within earshot
save the buckshot turn up the band.

>>Finale
She got down but she never got tight she's gonna' make it through the
night.

"Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce another runner in the
night"

(deuce as in "deuce coupe")

Written early in the seventies by The Boss : Bruce Springsteen to no
great popularity...then redone by Manfred Mann's Earth band later in the
seventies to overwhelming success

Manfred Mann in an abortive attempt to cash in on "the New Dylan"
tried to do with Bruce Springsteen, what the Byrds more or less did with
with Bob Dylan. They covered at least 2 Springsteen tunes, and jacked around
the lyrics so they would be more appealing to a global audience,ie;the
"bottle of Rose' of Greasy Lake fame, was presented as a bottle of rose' oo
la la!
Too bad MM had to go out like that ,copping other wwriter's
work,They were a British invasion land mark. Dowadiddy diddy dum diddy doo!

Turn it...what?....down?

I am dumbfounded at how often this question comes up on the internet. It
may be that because the lyrics in the album sleeve (Greetings From
Asbury Park, N.J. by Bruce Springsteen) and the way it is sung by
Manfred Mann are a little different.
From album liner.
".....was blinded by the light
cut loose like a deuce another
runner in the night."
Manfred Mann's version (as interpreted by me;-)):
...blinded by the light
revved up like a duece

another runner in the night.

I figure with Bruce's early fixation with cars (especially on the
"Greetings" and "Born To Run" albums) a "deuce" is a car, as in deuce
coupe. Being "cut loose" was being freed by the vehicle that take him
into the night and away from the problems that so many of us could
relate to then.

It's called "Blinded by the Light" and was written and first performed by
Bruce Springsteen. Manfred Mann's Earth Band did a very successful cover of
it. I don't have the lyrics, but I believe the chorus goes like this:

Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night

I have no idea what "revved up like a deuce" is supposed to mean either.. ;)

It's really a Bruce Springsteen song from the "Greetings from Asbury Park"
album.

The lyrics, as Bruce wrote them, are "Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in
the night."

Why Manfred Mann decided to make it a douche is beyond me!

They didn't make it a douche, it just sounds like they did. It still
remains duece

Actually, Manfred Mann's vocalist seemed to have a bit of a speech
impediment, hence the douche instead of duce

| Actually, that would be: "revved up like a deuce".
