Hello there. . .I was wondering if anyone out there knew where the lyrics
to "I, Don Quixote" from the musical "Man of La Mancha" might be. I
tried looking on AltaVista, Lycos, and WebCrawler under "lord of la
mancha" (a verse from the song) and was very unsuccessful.

The only bit I can recall is,

"I am I, Don Quixote,
The lord of La Mancha!"

and something about going whither the winds of fortune blow.

Any and all help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Melanie.

I only remember a bit from Primary School:

Here me now oh thou bleak and unbearable world,
Thou art base and debauched as can be,
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled,
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee:

I am I Don Quixote the Lord of La Mancha
Destroyer of evil am I,
I will march to the sounds of the trumpets of glory,
Forever to conquer or die,
Ever to conquer or die
Onward to glory I fly!

Cheers,
Clara

But a Knight with his banner all bravely unfurled
Hurls down his gauntlet to thee

I am I Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
My destiny calls and I go
And the wild winds of fortune
shall carry me onward
To wither so ever they blow
Wither so ever they blow
Onward to glory I'll go.

I'm Sancho, yes I'm Sancho
I'll follow my master till the end
I'll tell all the world proudly that
I'm his squire
I'm his friend.

Well, I'm not sure that's the title of the song (nor am I sure what
the exact title is), but here's what I've got:

Hear me now, o thou bleak and unbearable world

Thou art base and debauched as can be

And the knight with his valours all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet toward thee...

I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha

My destiny calls and I go
And the wild winds of fortune shall carry me onward

O withersoever they blow.

Withersoever they blow,
Onward to glory I go

Hear me heathens and wizards and servants of sin
For your dastardly doings are past
For a holy endeavour is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last

I am I, Don Quixote...

Best of luck!
Jonathan
