Hi!
I have a friend who is getting married in May and another who is singing
at the wedding. I was wondering if anyone has any song suggestions that might
help him/them (bride and groom) choose a song? Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated! Thanks!
Oh, just to make this a bit more specific... the songs will be sung inside the
church so "Torn Between Two Lovers" and the like are just a tad inappropriate!:)
Thanks again for the help!

Sincerely,
Laureen!

"In My Life" (Beatles)
"Since You've Asked" (Judy Collins version better than Fogelberg)
My sister had "Tonight ZI'll Be Staying Here With You" by Bob Dylan (Nashville
Skyline?) for a recessional

Me And You -Kenny Chesney

Ordinary, No! I really don't think so,
Not a love this true.
Common destiny, we were meant to be, me and you.

Like a perfect scene from a movie screen,
We're a dream come true.
Suited perfectly, for eternity, me and you.

CHORUS:
Everyday, well I need you even more,
And the nighttime too.
There's no way, I could ever let you go.
Even if I wanted to.
Everyday I live, (I) try my best to give,
All I have to you.
Thank the stars above, that we share this love, me and you

CHORUS
Ordinary, No! I really don't think so,
Just a precious few.
Ever make it last, are as lucky as
me and you.

Colour My World is by Chicago. Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion and
Together by Joey Gregorash are nice too. I almost chose Best of My Love
by the Eagles.

I've always been partial to "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" by George
Benson. It seem to sum up the hopeful desire on the part of the bride and
groom to keep the love in their marriage. "On The Wings of Love" is nice, too.
I don't know who did it originally.

My daughter and her husband had "Power of Two" by the Indigo Girls played at
their wedding. "Adding up the total of a love that's true, multiply life by
the power of two." Beautiful.

There's also David Bowie's "The Wedding" on his CD "Black Tie White Noise"
which is the instrumental music he wrote for his own wedding (to Iman).

On the same CD, there's also a version of the same with lyrics called "The
Wedding Song".

My friend's daughter had Butterfly Kisses.
Butterfly Kisses*

There's two things I know for sure,
She was sent here from heaven,
and she's daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night,
she talks to Jesus and I close my eyes.
And I thank God for all the joy in my life,
But most of all, for...

Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"Walk beside the pony daddy,
its my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny,
daddy, but I sure tried."
Oh, with all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right
To deserve a hug every morning
And butterfly kisses at night.

Sweet sixteen today,
She's looking like her momma
a little more every day.
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and makeup,
from ribbons and curls.
Trying her wings out in a great
big world. But i remember...

Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you daddy,
But if you don't mind,
I'm only going to kiss you on
the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right.
To deserve her love every morning,
And butterfly kisses at night.

All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by
Precious butterfly
Spread your wings and fly

She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise,
and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride room
just staring at her,
she asked me what I'm thinking,
and I said "I'm not sure,
I just feel like l'm losing my baby girl."
Then she leaned over...and gave me...

Butterfly kisses, with her mama there
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk me down the aisle daddy, its just about time"
"Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?"
"Daddy don't cry "
With all that I've done wrong, I must have
done something right
To deserve her love every morning
And butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask God for more, man, this is
what love is
I know I've gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses...

Thanks to Mark Feaver, I also have the midi of this if anyone wants it.

The one song I have heard recently that made me think when I heard it how great
it would be at a wedding was Beth Nielsen Chapmen's All I Have. The words are
terrific and the melody is uplifting.

ALL I HAVE (Beth Nielsen Chapman & Eric Kaz) (Artist: Beth Nielsen Chapman)

You can say you love me and I'll believe that's true.
Trusting you is easy because I believe in you.
There is nothing I would miss as long as we're in love like this.
All I have is all I need and it all comes down to you and me.
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each other's arms.

I feel like I've known you forever and ever.
Baby, that's how close we are.
Right here with you is where my life has come together
And where love has filled my heart.
You know I'd go anywhere as long as I have you to care.
All I have is all I need and it all comes down to you and me.
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each other's arms.

Ooh and with the love you bring, I never want for anything.
I found what I've been searching for in you.
All I have is all I need and it all comes down to you and me.
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each other's arms.

I've always thought this would be a great wedding song

True Companion

True Companion by Marc Cohn

Baby I've been searching like everybody else
Can't say nothing different about myself
Sometimes I'm an angel
And sometimes I'm cruel
And when it comes to love
I'm just another fool
Yes, I'll climb a mountain
I'm gonna swim the sea
There ain't no act of God girl
Could keep you safe from me
My arms are reaching out
Out across this canyon
I'm asking you to be my true companion
True companion
True companion

So don't you dare and try to walk away
I've got my heart set on our wedding day
I've got this vision of a girl in white
Made my decision that it's you allright
And when I take your hand
I'll watch my heart set sail
I'll take my trembling fingers
And I'll lift up your veil
Then I'll take you home
And with wild abandon
Make love to you just like a true companion
You are my true companion
I got a true companion
True companion

When the years have done irreparable harm
I can see us walking slowly arm in arm
Just like the couple on the corner do
'Cause girl I will always be in love with you
And when I look in your eyes
I'll still see that spark
Until the shadows fall
Until the room grows dark
Then when I leave this Earth
I'll be with the angels standin'
I'll be out there waiting for my true companion
Just for my true companion
True companion
True companion

I think the following song would be nice for a wedding:

From This Moment On

(I do swear that I'll always be there.
Id give anything and everything and I will always care.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow, for better, for worse.
I will love you with every beat of my heart.)

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers form up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment I will love you as long as I live
From this moment on

You know, Savage Garden's 'Truly Madly Deeply' It's quite new and it's a
very romantic song... It would be a bit more special cause probably no one's
used it in a wedding, since it's quite new, but it's a very popular song. Ya
probably heard it in the radio.. Here's the lyrics ...

Truly Madly Deeply

I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly, madly, deeply do
I will be strong I will be faithful
'cause I'm counting on

A new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning

I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish to send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the pleasure in the certainty
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of

The highest powers
In lonely hours
The tears devour you

I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Oh can't you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'Cause it's standing right here before you
All that you need will surely come

I'll be your dream I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly, madly, deeply do

I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Scarbourough Fair might be appropriate. There is an older version of the Simon
and Garfunkel one that has parts for both a man and a woman. Basicly, it is a
bethrothal song. Making a shirt for a man used to mean you accepted his
proposal of marrage, and the herbs; parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme are
symbolic of the virtues of a true love.
Est modo ludus.
