Hi,

I'm banging myself in the face for not having checked out this
wonderful newsgroup!

For a while I've been trying to find the lyrics to the wonderful 'What
A Fool Believes' by the Doobie Brothers. (Partly because they're
singing about a Wise Man having the power, or No Wise Man Has the
power? (my name's Wijsman, get it).

So to be sure they're singin' in a positive way about my family,
please post the lyrics! :-)

Thanks!

You are wise, witty, and wonderful,

but you spend too much time reading this sort of trash.

And now for not looking better on the net:

What A Fool Believes

------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES
(By Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins)
DOOBIE BROTHERS

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Tryin' hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life

She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say
Only to realized
It never really was

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As she rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
And nothing at all keeps sending him ...

Somewhere back in her long ago
Where he can still believe
There's a place in her life
Someday, somewhere, she will return

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As she rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
There's nothing at all
But what a fool believes he sees ...

I noticed the tab file for this song included a request for help on the
lyrics. Happy to oblige.

I transcribed it. The lyrics are hard for me to understand; I
don't have it on paper. Anybody else?

Great piece of music, superb singer song-writers. I've got it somewhere
so I'll try and remember to look it up. The chorus goes...

What a fool believes to be the wise man has the power to reason away
