Does anyone have the original Russian lyrics for "Bayushki
Bayu" (in normal ASCII transscription, please, since my
computer doesn't support those fancy cyrillic fonts)?

I only have the German translation of this beautiful Russian
folk song.

Egor Kobylkin and Middlebury at Moscow both sent me these
lyrics:

> Bayu-Bayushki-Bayu, ne lozhisya na kray
> Pridet seren'kiy volchock i ukusit za bochiok

Thanx a lot for your efforts, but this doesn't fit onto the
melody I know. Here is the German text of the song I mean,
along with my crude translation:

"Schlaf mein Kind, ich wieg dich leise, bajuschki baju,
singe die Kosakenweise, bajuschki baju.

Draussen rufen fremde Reiter, bajuschki baju,

(Sleep, my child, I rock you softly, bayushki bayu,
and sing to you the cosack (?) lullaby, bayushki bayu.

Outside strangers on horseback shout, bayushki bayu,
sleep, my child, they ride away, bayushki bayu.

One day you will become a rider too, bayushki bayu,
you will leave me and travel far away, bayushki bayu.

In foreign country, far from home, you will always think back,
remembering your mother who loves you, bayushki bayu.)

Does anyone recognize this song? Does anyone have the original
Russian lyrics? Or isn't this song Russian at all? (It could be
written to seem Russian.) Can anybody understand the bumpy
translation? :)

If this still doesn't trigger someone's memory, I'll have to
post a MIDI file with the melody ;)
