Hi everybody..

Before posting the answers to quiz #12 I'd like to add a little update
to the final results.
I just received the Aural Retentives' entry to quiz #12. As the answers
haven't been posted yet I chose
to accept it though it came in a couple of minutes outside the deadline.
that means we now have 62 entries with The Aural Retentives coming in at
#18 (with a score of 52 points)
and everyone ranked at 18 or below in the previous results table will
move down a notch...

okay, so finally here are the answers on scoring statistics to quiz #12:

[Pack 1]

>[a] Darling come quickly, come ease my mind
> For my prayers have not been answered for a long time
COCK ROBIN: Just Around The Corner
(Artist: 4 correct / 6 incorrect / 52 not answered Title: 3 / 3 / 56)
Quite a disappointing result. I really thought this was the easiest one
in this pack. Correct entries only by The Dutch Officials, Pinky & The
Brain and Aaron & Lorne.
>[b] And I would rather be anywhere else
> But here today
ELVIS COSTELLO: Oliver's Army
(Artist: 26 / 1 / 35 Title: 26 / 0 / 36)
seems like this should have been the [a]-question
>[c] How can I go home
> And not get blown away
COLD CHISEL: When The War Is Over
(Artist: 15 / 0 / 47 Title: 15 / 0 / 47)

[Pack 2]

>[a] But when you touch me like this
> And you hold me like that
CELINE DION: It's All Coming Back To Me Now
(Artist: 44 / 0 / 18 Title: 43 / 0 / 19)
now that was a real [a] question :o)
>[b] It's not that I'm not interested you see
> Augusta, Georgia is just no place to be
THE DIRT BAND: An American Dream
(Artist: 10 / 2 / 50 Title: 10 / 3 / 49)
This was a bit confusing as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band cut the Nitty
Gritty off their name when this was originally released.
>[c] Tonight's the night I'm gonna make my true confession
> I got my courage up, there's nothing that can keep me down
DIESEL: Tip Of My Tongue
(Artist: 6 / 1 / 55 Title: 4 / 2 / 56)
A great song by Jimmy Barnes' brother in law. Correct entries by Sharp
Shoosters, The "I Love Abstracts"-Team, Pinky & The Brain and Nat
Pocock.
[Pack 3]

>[a] I never thought so much could happen
> Just shooting pool
GENESIS: I Can't Dance
(Artist: 30 / 2 / 30 Title: 31 / 1 / 30)

>[b] Your heart is true
> You're a pal and a confidant
ANDREW GOLD: Thank You For Being A Friend
(Artist: 21 / 2 / 39 Title: 30 / 3 / 29)
This drove a lot of folks crazy as it sounded familiar to everybody who
frequently watched the "Golden Girls".
>[c] Well it ain't too funny when you'd rather die, ain't no pleasure when that girl don't reply
> To your lovesick letter that you wrote in tears about feeling so bad for a million years
RORY GALLAGHER: Calling Card
(Artist: 10 / 0 / 52 Title: 9 / 0 / 53)
I'm a bit disappointed that the Irish Gang didn't identify this...
[Pack 4]

>[a] If I can see it then I can do it
> If I just believe it there's nothing to it
R. KELLY: I Believe I Can Fly
(Artist: 33 / 0 / 29 Title: 33 / 0 / 29)

>[b] Daddy, is he a goodie or a baddie?
> Daddy can I have a dinosaur?
MARK KNOPFLER: Cannibals
(Artist: 14 / 2 / 46 Title: 14 / 2 / 46)

>[c] Peel me off the ceiling baby
> Did you know that planet earth was blue
KULA SHAKER: Smart Dogs
(Artist: 12 / 0 / 50 Title: 12 / 0 / 50)

[Pack 5]

>[a] When it's through it's through
> Fate will twist the both of you
MR.BIG: To Be With You
(Artist: 31 / 0 / 31 Title: 31 / 0 / 31)

>[b] This loud Cuban band is crucifying John Lennon
> No one wants to be lonely, no one wants to sing the blues
JOHN MELLENCAMP: Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)
(Artist: 25 / 1 / 36 Title: 23 / 2 / 37)
what a line :o)
>[c] Go through life parched and empty
> [... song title ...] dying of thirst
KATHY MATTEA: Standing Knee Deep In A River
(Artist: 8 / 2 / 52 Title: 8 / 2 / 52)

[Pack 6]

>[a] Talkin' jive and poison ivy
> You ain't gonna cling to me
NAZARETH: Hair Of The Dog
(Artist: 18 / 1 / 43 Title: 18 / 0 / 44)

>[b] There's an oil barge winding down the Cuyahoga River
> Rolling into Cleveland to the lake
RANDY NEWMAN: Burn On
(Artist: 19 / 0 / 43 Title: 19 / 0 / 43)

>[c] Alone on the road
> The static crackles on my radio
1927: The Other Side
(Artist: 0 / 2 / 60 Title: 0 / 2 / 60)
Some contestants lately demanded more Australian artists in my quizzes.
Well, here they are ... STUMPING!
[Pack 7]

>[a] Hey kids, rock and roll
> Nobody tells you where to go, baby
R.E.M.: Drive
(Artist: 37 / 3 / 22 Title: 34 / 5 / 23)
still one of the best identified bands - R.E.M. always get a lot of
hits when I put one of their songs into one of my quizzes.
>[b] And I followed you across the stars
> I looked for you in seedy bars
ROLLING STONES: Love Is Strong
(Artist: 18 / 1 / 43 Title: 18 / 1 / 43)

>[c] I might be dyin' but you just can't hear a sound
> Cause midnight rain is comin' down
RICHIE SAMBORA: Stranger In This Town
(Artist: 12 / 2 / 48 Title: 12 / 2 / 48)
Though I accidently put him into the wrong pack it's nice to see Richie
performing almost as well as the Stones...
[Pack 8]

>[a] All roads lead to tranquility base
> Where the frown on my face disappears
STYX: Boat On The River
(Artist: 14 / 0 / 48 Title: 14 / 0 / 48)

>[b] Heart beats silly like a big bass drum
> Losing all equilibrium
ROD STEWART: Infatuation
(Artist: 8 / 2 / 52 Title: 8 / 1 / 53)
HEY! One of Rod's best songs ever! Should have deserved a much better
result.
>[c] You better hold on to the one who's losing you
> There's so much we've got to share, don't walk away
STRANGEWAYS: Only A Fool
(Artist: 0 / 3 / 59 Title: 0 / 3 / 59)
Okay! So this was an intentional stumper... Anyway, try to get a chance
to listen to Strangeways. They've been poorly underrated.
[Pack 9]

>[a] I saw four faces one mad, a brother from the gutter
> They looked me up and down a bit and then turned to each other
10 CC: Dreadlock Holiday
(Artist: 25 / 0 / 37 Title: 25 / 0 / 37)

>[b] Oh goodness! My gracious
> I hope it's not contagious
TERRORVISION: Oblivion
(Artist: 10 / 1 / 51 Title: 10 / 1 / 51)
Another great catchy line :o)
>[c] She's had a rotten day and so she hopes the DJ
> Is gonna play her favorite song
TRIUMPH: Magic Power
(Artist: 14 / 3 / 45 Title: 13 / 5 / 44)

[Pack 10]

>[a] I hear your name in certain circles
> And it always makes me smile
JOHN WAITE: Missing You
(Artist: 42 / 3 / 17 Title: 44 / 1 / 17)

>[b] If my best isn't good enough
> Then how can it be good enough for two?
WHAM!: Everything She Wants
(Artist: 21 / 3 / 38 Title: 20 / 3 / 39)

>[c] Her parents said, "You're not our daughter, you're a whore -
> It's over. You don't live here anymore."
WAS (NOT WAS): (Return To The Valley Of) Out Come The Freaks
(Artist: 8 / 2 / 52 Title: 8 / 0 / 54)
One of the best songs out of one of the best albums of the 80's....
