My mom's asked me to search the web for the lyrics to a song titled
"Brazil." Written by an S.K. Russell (circa 1939). After a morning of
searching every web site and lyrics web ring possible, I give up.
Does anyone know where I might be able to find the lyrics to this song?
She says it may have been performed by the Village People as well as
other artists.
Thank you very much for your help.
Tony.

Sorry, no lyric.
Lyrics World
http://www.summer.com.br/~pfilho/html/main_index/index.html
has a spot reserved for it as performed by Xavier Cugat. (this means the
song charted, but they haven't located the lyric yet).
I have a reference book that says that S.K. Russell did the *English*
words (meaning the song was first popular in another language). Ary
Barroso did the music.
Introduced in US in 1942 by Eddie Duchin. Covered by Xavier Cugat.
Also performed by Jimmy Dorsey (Helen O'Connell / Bob Eberly, vocals).
Covered again in 1975 by The Ritchie Family.
No mention of The Village People, but that doesn't mean it didn't
happen.
Good luck, hope this helps.

I don't know if Village People did a cover of this song, but i would
LOVE to hear it if they did.

7. What are the lyrics to the song Brazil? Is a soundtrack
available?
Brazil...
Where hearts were entertaining June
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmured someday soon...
We kissed...
And clung together
Then...
Tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away *
With still a million things to say
Now...
When twilight dims the skies above **
Recalling thrills of our love
There's one thing I'm certain of
Return...
I will...
to old...
BRAZIL.
(NOTES: * In some versions, this line is "The morning found
US miles away"
** In some versions, this line is "When twilight dims the STARS above")
The soundtrack by Michael Kamen is available on compact disc, Milan
35636-2. The disc features music from the film as well as snippets of
dialogue and the title track sung by Kate Bush. The recording is
excellent, and the disc offers insightful liner notes written by Steven
Smith, Terry Gilliam and Michael Kamen.

I think most of the lyrics are correct, but if there is any obvious
mistake... lemme know... parts of it were sung in counterpart, so the
spacing is a lil off. Also, they use snappy banter throughout the whole
recording, so they are kinda goin' back n forth throughout the song...

Brazil
Here we are face to face again
And in some far off place again
Travellers, we, we go Erin Bragh
As you know that's no where in Brazil
Where hearts were entertaining June
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmur "some day soon"
We kissed and clung together then
Tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say
Now when twilight dims the sky above
Recalling thrills of our love
There's one thing I'm certain of
Return, I will, to old Brazil
That was then, oh, but this is now
Welcome me with your kisses now
Brazil, where the Amazon flows
Where exchanging hellos
And tis fancy meeting you here
Here where songs are passionate
And a smile has flash in it
And a kiss has art in it
Before you put your heart in it
And you and I just fit, Brazil
Rio de, on the coast of it
Where hearts are entertaining June
Well, of course, make the most of it
We stand beneath an amber moon
Don't let them move that stage away
Where softly Bing begins to croon
Rosie, you give your age away
We kiss and cling together (ooh)
oops... i think there's more :( now what'd i do with those papers?
grrrr....
