That's a new song by "Everything But The Girl". It's called "Missing".
the lyric is"and I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain"
kind of catchy isn't it? I bought the cd e.p. with 7 versions of the same!

The last one is from a Bon Jovi song. Bed of Roses, if I'm not mistaken.

There was also a very similar Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees in the 70s)
song, a slow one, that contained many such lyrics; I can't remember if
it was actually called "I Miss You" or "I Need You", but it was slow
and pretty. Listen for it on "Oldies" radio stations that do 60s-80s.

The song is by America. You were right the second time, it is "I need
you", which, I think, is also the title of the song.

This person has gotten four different answers to this question:

America

Bon Jovi

Bee Gees

Everything but the Girl (which is a more recent group, I think.)

So, I have to wonder which one this person is actually asking for...

There's a U2 lyrics, "like the desert needs rain, I need your love".
I cant seem to rememebr the name of the song, but it's on Rattle
and Hum. It could very well be called, "I need your love"

Nyetsky, my friend!! America's song says "Like the FLOWERS need
the rain / you know I need you"

The correct answer! I am a huge fan of ebtg, trust me on this
one.

By the by, ebtg is a typical "overnight success", they've been
around since the early 80s.

The line "and I miss you like the deserts miss the rain" is from
"I Miss You" by Everything but the Girl". It's a new dance type song
that doesn't sound anything like "I Need You", so it's probably a
different song you're thinking of.

No, surely it's "Missing" by Everything But The Girl:

I step off the train, I'm walking down your street again
I'm walking past your door, now you don't live there anymore...

Is that the one?

I believe that:
if the words go:
i need you, like the flowers need the rain, you know i need you,
and i 'll shout it out again, etc.
Then the song is
I need You , by the group America. i think it's on their Greatest hits album.

Had me fooled! The lyrics are nearly identical to an America song called
"I Need You" on (i think) their first album (@ 1970):
I need you, like the flower needs the rain
You know I need you....

Oh, well, I lose!

Um...I'm pretty sure the song is: Missing
and it's by the group : Everything but the girl

the main chorus goes like:
And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain

Be ware if you are buying this though, the song that comes on the cd is an
acoustic version and it doesn't sound quite the same as the one that is
usually played on the radio (much better IMHO)

It's called "Missing", in fact - by Everything But The Girl.
