I need the lyrics to "There's a Long, Long Trail A Winding" I am singing it at
my Grandfather's wedding next weekend. I have lyrics but they only include one
verse and the chorus. Are there more verses? This is what I have so far:

Nights are growing very lonely
days are very long
I'm a-growing weary only
listening for your song
Old remembrances are thronging
through my memory
'Till it seems the world is full of dreams,
just to call you back to me

There's a long, long trail a-winding
into the land of my dreams,
where the nightingales are singing
and a white moon beams
There's a long, long night of waiting
until my dreams all come true;
Till the day when I'll be going down
that long, long trail with you.

If you have information, please email it to me.

Thank you,

Best of luck,

For a wedding?? Seems like these lyrics would be more appropriate for a
funeral.

Here's how the lyrics appear on the sheet music:

There's A Long, Long Trail
- words by Stoddard King, music by Zo Elliott
- copyright 1913 by West & Co.

Nights are growing very lonely

Days are very long

I'm a-growing weary only

List'ning for your song
Old remembrances are thronging
Thro' my memory

Till it seems the world is full of dreams

Just to call you back to me

There's a long, long trail a-winding

Into the land of my dreams
Where the nightingales are singing
And a white moon beams

There's a long, long night of waiting

Until my dreams all come true

Till the day when I'll be going down

That long, long trail with you

All night long I hear you calling
Calling sweet and low
Seem to hear your footsteps falling
Ev'rywhere I go
Tho' the road between us stretches
Many a weary mile
I forget that you're not with me yet
When I think I see you smile

There's a long, long trail a-winding

Into the land of my dreams
Where the nightingales are singing
And a white moon beams

There's a long, long night of waiting

Until my dreams all come true

Till the day when I'll be going down

That long, long trail with you

I think that's all of it. Often in songs from that era only the Chorus was
sung, which in this case is romantic, unlike the verses, which are funereal.
That is most likely what your grandfather remembers, the chorus part. You
might want to just change the words a bit on the verse, like so:

All night long I hear you calling
> Calling sweet and low
> Seem to hear your footsteps falling
> Ev'rywhere I go

> Tho' the road before us stretches
> Many a starry mile
> I remember you're still with me
> Everytime I see you smile.

I once played "sugar pie honey bunch" at a wedding, selected by the Bride and
Groom. The lyrics include the line "I'm tied to your apron strings, and
there's nothing that I can do" not exactly a grooms idea of marital bliss!!!
I sang it anyway, no one noticed!

Good Luck,

Z
