Boy, talk about obscure - there's a song about a dog named Blue (can't
remember the exact title) on the Byrds' late 60s album "Dr. Byrds and Mr.
Hyde", which was during their country phase. It's the second song on the first
side, right after "This Wheel's On Fire", the Band song (Danko).

Had an old Dog and his name was Blue,
Betcha five dollars he's a good dog too.

Please allow me to piggyback on in here, as I do not see the name of the
original requester. How about "Me and You and A Dog Named BOO" by Lobo
in 1971 ?

I think I heard Grampa Jones of "Hee Haw" fame sing something like this
on a PBS radio show once. (Or was that "Old Blue")It was about a man's
old hunting dog. -John

Probably was the same song. Come to think of it, I think it WAS called "Old
Blue". On their country albums, the Byrds did a number of old country
standards, in addition to some new originals.

Just a thought,

Kathleen,

I think the song you are talking about is called "Ol' Blue"

It's in the Byrds album "Dr. Byrds and Mr. Hyde"

and also sang by James Taylor with Mark O'Connor in the
Mark's 1989 album "On The Mark"

...Had an old Dog and his name was Blue,

Betcha five dollars he's a good dog too...

All the best,
PF

Kahtleen,

I think the song you're thinking of is called "Ol' Blue".

You can find it on Mark O'Connor 1989 album "On The Mark"
It's sang by JAMES TAYLOR.

I think it's on Byrds' album "Dr. Byrds and Mr. Hyde", but I'm not
sure.

Hi Kathleen,

Maybe you are talking about a song called..
"Me and You and a Dog Named Boo"

I don't know the artist or the lyrics, nor even
the tune, but I know the title from some 60's-70's
songbooks I've seen.

Hope this helps,
Tina
