>Anyone know of an English translation? Great melody, great sound in Spanish,
>but have never seen translation. Anyone???
I have a version of this song by the folk singer Pete Seeger. In the
middle of the song he says: "the words mean" and then he starts a
translation into English:
- Guantanamera
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera
The words mean:
I am a truthful man from the land of the palm trees.
Before dying I want to share these poems of my soul.
My poems are soft green, my poems are also flaming crimson.
My poems are a like a wounded fawn seeking refuge in a forest.
The last words say:
Con los probres de la tierra
With the poor people of this earth I want to share my fate.
The stream of the mountain pleases me more than the sea.
I hope I could help
