Hey all, I've been hearing a remake of the song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" on
the radio lately. It's done by a female vocalist and sounds quite nice for a
remake, I was just wondering who was singing, anyone know? Jen

Chantal Kreviazuk

She recorded it for the Armageddon soundtrack.

Who recorded it originally? (I should know, but don't ) :)

I don't know either but FWIW, a british parady band called the Barron
Knights recorded their own version in the 70's entitled Heaving on A
Jet Plane, I can't remember the words but it was quite funny.

Written by John Denver and originally recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary in
1969. Hard to believe it was PPM's only #1 hit.

Since everyone has already told you the artist covering and the artists who
originally made this tune famous, I'm just weighing in my opinion of Chantal's
redux. I think that despite a few techno touches and a bit of dialogue
overload, her version would have made John Denver proud. I have always loved
Denver's songs ( I can vividly recall hearing his music on every station in the
70s while on a trip by car from the ri-state area to California, going through
the picturesque setting of the Grand Canyon area ), so I'm very hard to please
when it comes to hearing others do his songs.
