Not sure if this is the right group to post this question in, but I'll
put on my asbestos underwear and give it a go...

I heard a song the other day that had the chorus "when the bullet hits
the bone" or something similar. Can anyone tell me what the song is,
the artist, and whether it is new or old? Thanks.

It's 'Twilight Zone' by Golden Earring.

Hey Bruce! How's it going today? Anyway, the song is
"Twilight Zone" by Golden Earrring. Released in Dec 1982, it hit
the top 40 Charts in Jan 1983, reaching #10, and staying on the charts
for 15 weeks. Sorry, but I don't have the lyrics on hand -> if I dig
them up I'll mail them to ya!

Well, Bruce, I think it's "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring (the best Dutch band
ever) and I think it's made somewhere in the eighties, but I don't know when exactly.
If it is the same song, you can recognize it by the long bass-solo which
repeats the same melody many times. After that a guitar-solo follows.
I hope this is the song you meant.
