And if you've heard of it, do you know the lyrics? I searched all
the lyrics search engines I could find. I had no luck with any of
them.

Thanks in advance,
Sambone

It was sung by Helen Reddy back in the 70's. Don't have the lyrics though.

Here's the chorus...

Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
and did I hear you say he'd be meeting you here today
to take you to his mansion in the sky

Yup!

"Delta Dawn. What's that flower you have on?"
"Could it be a faded/painted rose from days gone by?"

"And did I hear you say he was meeting you here today,"
"To take you to that mansion in the sky?"

That one?

Nope! Never heard it!

I think it's by Helen Reddy or Anne Murray.

Sorry, this is all I could remember..

She's fourty one and her daddy(?) still calls her baby
all the folks round townsville say she's crazy
cause she walks round town with a suitcase in her hand
looking for a mysterious dark haired man

In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
till a ????????????
promised he would take her for his bride

Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
and did I hear you say he'd be meeting you here today
to take you to his mansion in the sky

Dildo Dawn, what's that mechanism you have on?
could it be a porceline penis from days gone by?
and did i hear you grunt as you shoved it up your cunt
to give you that great orgasm 'twixt your thighs

(apologies for the crappy spelling)

Delta Dawn was sung by Tanya Tucker in her very young days around 1971.
I remember my younger sister bought the '45 and we used to stand on
chairs in the living room and sing out the livingroom picture window as
if we were singing to an audience outside. Memories......

It was done by Helen Reddy in the 70's... The same artist that brought us
"I AM WOMAN" and "Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady" ... Methinks Helen needs
to make up her mind!
