I've been searching for lyrics to an old novelty tune.

I don't remember the artist, and only remember someof the words - - -

The first verse, perhaps imperfectly is:

Throw another log on the fire
Boil me up some bacon and some beans
Then go to the car and patch the tire
Darn my socks and mend my old bluejeans
Then you can go out to the kitchen
And boil me up another pot of tea,
Then come and sit down here beside me,
Come and tell me why you're leaving me.

I'd sure appreciate any help anyone can offer in more lyrics, more
accurate lyrics than I have, the name of the artist or the record company
that distributed it, or a source to get the entire piece.

many thanks,

Bob Stone

it is "put another log on the fire" recorded in the early 70's by tompall
glaser. released on 45 rpm mgm 14800 and on 2 lps: "tompall" by tompall
glaser and "wanted! the outlaws" by the (so-called) outlaws which was
actually a made-up name for this one shot lp project. the members of the
outlaws were tompall, waylon jennings, and others--i think willie nelson was
involved also. the tompall lp is on mgm; the outlaws lp is on rca and was a
huge seller--you should be able to find it. it has also been reissued on cd.

Again many thanks for your help. This group never ceases to amaze me!

Here are the lyrics you wanted:
Enjoy,
Jan Hart

PUT ANOTHER LOG ON THE FIRE

Put another log on the fire
Cook me up some bacon and some beans
And go out to the car and change the tire
Wash my socks and sew my ole Blue jeans

Come on baby you can fill my pipe
Then go fetch my slippers
And Boil me up another pot of tea
Then put another log on the fire - Babe

Come and tell me why you’re leaving me.

Now don’t I let you wash the car on Sundays
Don’t I warn you when you’re getting fat
Ain’t I gonna take you fishing with me someday
Well a man can’t love a woman more that

Ain’t I always nice to your kid sister
Don’t I take her driving every night
So sit here at my feet,
Cause I like you when you’re sweet
And you know it ain’t feminine to fight

So Put another log on the fire
cook me up some bacon and some beans
and go out to the car lift it up and change the
tire
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans

Come on baby you can fill my pipe
Then go fetch my slippers

And boil me up another pot of tea

Then put another Log on the fire - Babe

Come and tell me why you’re leaving me.

Bob, I don't have the lyrics, but I can tell you the song you're
looking for is called "Put Another Log On The Fire". I found links
for artists that have recorded it (no lyrics though) so try these
names: Bill and Boyd, Tompall Glasser, Waylon Jennings
and Second Opinion. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

TD
