Anyone have these?? Would greatly appreciate them.
Have a copy of lyrics, but they are missing a verse about
a stairway to heaven....

> Forever Young - Rod Stewart
> May the good life be with you down every road you roam,
> And may sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home.
> May you grow to be proud, dignified, and true,
> And do unto others as you'd have done to you.
> Be courageous and be brave,
> And in my heart you'll always stay
> Forever young
> Forever young
> May good fortune be with you and may your guiding light be strong,
> And may you never love in vain,
> And in my heart you will remain
> Forever young
> Forever young
> When you finally fly away I'll be hoping that I served you well,
> For all the wisdom of a lifetime no one can ever tell,
> But whatever road you choose,
> I'm right behind you win or lose.
> Forever young
> Forever young

However, the verse that mentions the "stairway to heaven" --
um, actually, it's "a ladder to the stars," -- is not found in
the Rod Stewart version of the song, but in the Bob Dylan one.

Here's the lyrics for that, from his "Live at Buddokan" album

FOREVER YOUNG
Words and music by Bob Dylan
copyright 1973 Ram's Horn Music

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
(Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young)

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the light surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
(Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young)

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
(Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young)

Joan Baez also recorded this version, but Dylan wrote it. They're
both beautiful songs, although so similar that every time I hear the
Rod Stewart one I wonder about copyright violations. Anyone know who
is credited with writing the Stewart version?

My husband and I have an ongoing battle about which one of these songs
will be played at our daughter's wedding (since she's only 12, we've got
some time to work it out first). We had the Bob Dylan one sung at her
christening and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. The possibility that
she might not want to hear either one at her wedding is never considered.
The most likely compromise will be that we'll have both of them played.
Several times.

I believe Mr. Ludwig, in looking for a verse about a stairway to
heaven, is actually thinking of a different song of the same title,
composed by Bob Dylan:

FOREVER YOUNG
(Words and Music by Bob Dylan)
1973, 1985 Ram's Horn Music

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,

May you always do for others

And let others do for you.

May you build a ladder to the stars

And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,

May you always know the truth

And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,

May you have a strong foundation

When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Keep on singing,
