Aside from "It's a Family Affair" and "We Are Family", could anyone come
up with any well known songs about family. It's needed to musicly
introduce a bunch of cousins at a family event this summer.

All help is much appreciated

Many, many years ago, when I was 23,
I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red;
my father fell in love with her and soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law, which changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother, 'cos she was my father's wife.
And to complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy,
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy ....

This little baby thus became a borther-in-law to Dad,
and so became my uncle though it made me very sad.
'Cos if he was my uncle and he also was the brother
of the widow's grown-up daughter who of course was my stepmother --

<chorus>
Then I'm my own grandpa.
I'm my own grandpa!
It sounds funny, I know, but really it's so,
I'm my own grandpa.

My father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run.
My brother was my grandchild, 'cos he was my daughter's son.
My wife is now my father's mother, and it makes me blue:
although she is my wife, she is my grandmother too!

Now if my wife is my grandmother, I am her grandchild.
Every time I think of it, it nearly drives me wild.
Now I am become the strangest case you ever saw:
as husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa!

<chorus>
And I'm my own grandpa [etc]
-------------------------------------------

I'm sorry I don't know who wrote this old chestnut.
I hope someone can help you find the melody! Or email me & I'll
see if I can track down the recording that I heard it from.

The only song i can think of that specifically mentions cousins is the
theme from "The Patty Duke Show," easily the nadir of Western
civilization. I can post the lyric if you want, but I warn you: it's too
dumb for words.

'Our House' - Madness
'Picture Book' - The Kinks

they mightn't have the word in the title but they're definitely about families
or family life...

Gee, the identical cousins. I remember that show...and a few of the lyrics

They even (something else) alike....

Thanks for the trip down memory lane but I don't think so ;)
