>>>Hello there,
>>>Anyone got the words to any of Roger Whittaker`s songs.
>>>Thanks
Well, please excuse me for the previous post...my poster just took off
by itself or something.
Actually I have an album of Roger's somewhere, and I'll look for it.
But anyway, could Raj whistle or what? He's got some kind of puckerer
I'll tell ya.
I remember This Dirty old Town and I know a few of the words to Here
We Stand. <see below>
Here We Stand
--Bardotti-Balden, Berno-Thumpston
Touching You
with my heart in hand
trusting you
know you understand
words can't say
what has pased between us
come what may
or what might have been
hold me close
in the midnight blue
hold me close
let the stillness <something, I don't remember>
Here we stand
on this world of clay
Hold my hand
and we'll fly away
then he does this whole schpiel something like (very dramatic)
"I told you
there is only you
there is only me
there is only the IRS <----I stuck that part in (sorry, I just felt
like it, so sue me)
hope that helps.
Seems like I wrote a poem similar to that in junior high and I got a
'D' on it.
hope that helps.
Hi Eugene!!
I used to have a Roger Whittaker album and 8 track that I loved. Can
only find Whittaker now in the County Western section. Here are the
lyrics to "The Last Farewell", written and performed by Roger Whittaker
in 1975.
THE LAST FAREWELL
There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor,
Tomorrow for old England she sails.
Far away from your land of endless sunshine,
To my land full of rainy skies and gales.
And I shall be aboard that ship tomorrow,
Though my heart is full of tears at this farwell.
CHORUS:
For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly,
More dearly then the spoken word can tell.
For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly,
More dearly than the spoken word can tell.
I heard there's a wicked war a blazing
And the taste of war I know so very well,
Even now I see a foreign flag a raising,
Their guns on fire as we sailed into hell.
I have no fear of death, it brings no sorrow
But how bitter will be this last farewell.
Repeat Chorus
Though death and darkness gather all about me,
And my ship be torn apart upon the sea,
I shall smell again the fragrance of these islands,
In the heaving waves that brought me once to thee.
And should I return safe home again to England,
I shall watch the English mist roll through the dell.
Repeat Chorus
