Simon and Garfunkel had a song called FOR EMILY. The name Emily was not
mentioned in the lyrics.

I think Roger Whittaker did a song in the late 70's or early 80's
called "Emily". It is about a little girl alone in her room,
day-dreaming. If you need more info, contact me.

"Emily", by Michael W. Smith

(i'll write what i remember)

Caught in an endless time
Waiting for a sign to show you where to go
Lost in a silent prayer
Looking anywhere for answers you don't know

(chorus:)
On a wire, balancing your dreams
Hoping ends will meet their means,
But you feel alone...
Uninspired
Well does it help you to know that I believe in you...
You're an angel waiting for wings --
Emily

You, going through this stage
It's a restless age, young and insecure
Now there are doubt to face
Moments to be made, and one of them is yours...

(chorus)

"The Dangling Conversation", on the same Simon and Garfunkel album
(_Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme_), mentions Emily Dickinson.

And the late, great Allan Sherman rhymed "How's by you the family" with
"How's your sister Emily" in "Sarah Jackman" on the _My Son, the Folk
Singer_ LP.

____________________________

The Andy Williams version of "Emily" is based on what's become a jazz
ballad standard. The song was originally from the soundtrack of a movie by
the same name and has been covered both vocally and instrumentally by
several artists, including Tony Bennett.

There are also a few totally different songs with the title "Emily" by
Elton John and Los Lobos, among others.

You might also listen to "Like Emily" by All About Eve, "See Emily Play"
by David Bowie, and "Miss Emily's Picture" by John Conlee.

Incidentally, I found all of this information by doing a song search at
http://www.cdconnection.com/ -- try it yourself and let us know how it
works for you.

don't anybody flame me cuz I don't care if they sold out or whatever, their
