Once I saw Paul Williams on a talk show discussing his experience in
rehab. He said he had abused such a staggering variety and volume of
drugs and alcohol for so long that now he has no direct recollection of
having written the many hit songs that made him rich and famous.
Not all of Williams's songs are as obviously written under the influence
as the Love Boat theme.
