If there is some person out there of golden heart that (taking deep
breath) can provide an english translation of his French lyrics, in
the song "without blame" from the cd "Jammu Africa", i will cheerfully
relinquish my first born. I suppose i am looking for someone with
waaay to much time on their hands that speaks french and english and
would not mind providing the translation. Lacking that, does anyone
know of where the lyrics can be found? i can do the slaving over the
french/english dictionary with great delight. However i have not been
able to find them. Ismael, quite properly, ignores my pleas everytime
i ask (that is a joke). With graditude, Beth

Does "Without blame" have French lyrics?

Jammu Africa (1996)
Singer and actor Ismael Lo sings the duet 'Without Blame' (La Femme Sans
Haine) with Marianne Faithfull . The song has english lyrics by Roger
Waters.

Without Blame

All women are queens
But some are more regal than others
Some shatter men's dreams
By breaking away from their lovers
Of one such woman I sing
Who said when her man let the enemy in
I'm gone, gone with the wind

The love you would not defend with your life
You cannot pretend now with tears in your eyes
I'm gone, gone with the wind
I'm gone in search of a new king

All women are queens
No matter what their environs
Behindthe myriad shapes that we see
Dwell mysterious sirens
Burn the towns Burn the back street bars
Burn your boardwalk basement trade
Feel the flame feel the cut of the sword
your living flesh reeks of compromise made
In the face of barbarian hoards
An honest defeat is the only reward

The love you would not defend with your life
You cannot pretend now with tears in your eyes
I'm gone, gone with the wind
I'm gone in search of a new king

All women are queens
Tell this to the woman who loves you
You may not live up to her dreams
This even a king cannot always do
So this queen with her pure strength unveiled
Leaves the king a good man but weak and afraid
She leaves as she must like an ebbing tide
Drawn out of sigth by the moons of pure ligth

The love that you would not defend with your life
You cannot pretend with tears in your eyes
I am gone, gone with the wind
I am gone in search of a new king
I am gone
Without blame

Anything French can be translated with this simple thought in mind, The
finite should be as perfect (which of course means also as complete as and
hence the resulting dilemma) as the infinite. If we struggle awhile with
this dilemma, we can wrangle the words finite and infinite until the
definitions mean the same thing and conclude that thus finite and infinite
indeed are the same thing.

How much you wanna bet that when it comes time for Beth (if that's
even her real name) to ante up, both she ~and~ her first born are
absolutely nowhere to be found?

I'm not asking for anything in return, anyway. I'm true hero, you see:-)

I do not mean to drag this thing out at all. Initially a simple
request that a sweet person was kind enough to answer. A request that
i thought had some humor in it. I thank the heroic costas and sue for
enigmatic (to me at least, but am a blonde (that's a joke-sigh, do so
hate to have to explain that)) comments. Cannot help but feel
saddened that there is so much cynicism or the need to comment on it.
Thank you all for helping me. Beth (aka Butch Charles Ralph Dung
Heap....the reneging (or perhaps childless) seeker of words to a
lovely song.

PS costas you did get something, my extreme gratitude (sorry you can't
spend it) as well as my child (a seven year old boy) being send UPS
next day air.

Ismael Lo has also recorded a version without Marianne Faithful. It is only
in french.

Are you the guy (or one of the guys) behind the "Pink Floyd Hyperbase"? In
such a case I'd like to let you know that it is a very consistent source of
information and the first place for me to look on anything around PF.

Thanks.:-)
