Does anyone have the lyrics to the song Sting sang on the first 'A Very
Special Christmas' album? It's about the angel Gabriel.

It starts:

The angel Gabriel
From heaven came
His wings...

Anyone with lyrics can post 'em or mail 'em to me. Thanks!

Oh, and if this is the second time this message showed up, I apologize.

Sure do! It's a beautiful carol, one of my favorites.

THE ANGLE GABRIEL FROM HEAVEN CAME

Savine Baring-Gould, 1834-1924
Traditional Basque Carol Melody

The angel Gabriel from heaven came,
His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;
"All hail," said he, "thou lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favored lady," Glo-o-o-ria

"For know a blessed Mother thou shalt be,
All generations laud and honor thee,
Thy Son shall be Emmanuel by seers foretold.
Most highly favored lady," Glo-o-o-ria

Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head,
"To me be as it pleaseth God," she said,
"My soul shall laud and magnify His holy name."
Most highly favored lady, Glo-o-o-ria

Of her, Emmanuel the Christ was born
In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn,
And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say
"Most highly favored lady," Glo-o-o-ria
