I haven't watched the show for a few years, but unless they've
changed it, the opening theme for the show was the Beatles' classic
"Lady Madonna."

Which ought to be available on the Lyrics Server at

No, it ain't Lady Madonna. I live in Russia and they showed this sitcom last
year on TV. Opening song was definitely not Beatles' one.

This is the page:

Dave Thomas as Russell Norton
Casey Sander as Wade Swoboda

Charles Hallahan as Bill Mazeroski (Season 1 only)
Walter Olkewicz as Dougie (Season 1 only)
Recurring Guests
Louis Mandylor as Carl
Dave Florek as Vic
Nancy Lenehan as Mrs Sheffield

The theme song is a special recording of "Lady Madonna" by Aretha Franklin.

family home, and Jimmy moved out (he was kicked out - Grace got a restraining
order) when they got divorced.

Well, this was bothering me, so I checked the Web to see what I could
find out. I turned up several references stating that "Lady Madonna"
was at one time used as the theme for this series, so at least I know
now that I wasn't imagining things.

Don't have a clue what they're using as a theme now, though.
Or why they might have changed it.

The Grace Under Fire episode guide at

http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~dave/guides/GraceUnderFire/index.html

says:

The theme song is a special recording of 'Lady Madonna'
by Aretha Franklin.

I found a few other references, too:

http://www.high-ground.com/ent/music/quiz/musicquizanswers-rockersonTV.htm

Q: During it's first few seasons, Brett Butler's ABC sitcom
Grace Under Fire featured this Beatles song (about a single
woman's suffering with a family) as it's theme.
A: "Lady Madonna"

GRACE UNDER FIRE
The show uses "Lady Madonna" (sung by some scary lady)
in the opening credits.

http://osu.orst.edu/Dept/Barometer/1996/arts/960418A2.html

"Lady Madonna," a product of a 1968 stint at EMI studios, has been
adapted as the theme song for the ABC comedy "Grace Under Fire,"
starring Brett Butler, although a cover of the original is used on
the show.

Lady Madonna (1983) Interesting that the tv comedy series Grace
Under Fire used exactly the same approach to this song when used
as its theme tune.

Is this it? Although I never heard this song used on the show,
it's possible that they switched their regular theme song for

Sunny Side Up
A Small Price For Heaven

Walking Down The Street

Excuse me, channel one

This post is for posterity. The bad news is that there's no source for this song; it was created for Grace Under Fire when it went into syndication. The song is by Dennis C. Brown. He's known for original compositions for film and TV including "Grace Under Fire", "Dharma and Greg", "Two and a Half Men", and "Mike and Molly".

There's a chance that the actual performers were just studio musicians who came together to perform the song written and composed by B

Yes, the show originally had "Lady Madonna" as the theme. I imagine expensive music rights are to blame for another song being substituted as the theme. If you remember "Bosom Buddies," you'll know the theme during the original airing was the Billy Joel song. I've seen the show since with a different tune as the theme. I believe that one was just an instrumental. I've seen some cheap DVD sets of "The Andy Griffith Show" which feature a different theme. Music rights can be very expensive. "WKRP" used lots of music of the day. When it came time to produce the DVD sets, it was found that some of the original music was unaffordable. New music was inserted, with voiceover artists imitating the actors. If you remember the scene with Les Nessman putting on the wig, that was originally backed with the "Hot Blooded" song.

Finally!. Ive never understiod the first line of this song. Lady madonna was orginally used by aretha franklin. But i think there must have been some legal battle over that song because later on they used this song.

Can you see me walkin' down the street
Beat box blares a click track to my empty mind.
Now my walkma's playin' a slow and endless march
And I'm looking for that bright spot in the sky.
But in my eyes there's a perfect world.
I can see it: A perfect world.

These are the lyics, it was performed by a studio band and so far I am unable to discover the name of the band.

If you turn on your close captioning you can read the lyrics on your tv 😂. I just came to this site to see who wrote it and sang it. I just had to know. Just turn on your close captioning people!!!!!!!

He's known for original compositions for film and TV including "Grace Under Fire", "Dharma and Greg", "Two and a Half Men", and "Mike and Molly".
