Does anyone know ANYTHING about a Danny Kaye song, probably a children's
song, probably from the fifties, with a title something like "The
Churkengoose?"

I love Danny Kaye, although that is one song I don't know.

Ray Bolger narrated the Churkendoose and sang songs on an album in the
50's. No lyrics found.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me. For anyone else who is interested
in this... Brian on rec.music.collecting.vinyl further identified it as
"'The Churkendoose' performed by Ray Bolger on a 12 inch 78 RPM record,
Decca DU 90006 (1947)."

It turns out that there is a nonprofit organization called The Handle
Institute, 1530 Eastlake Ave East, Seattle, WA 98102,
http://www.handle.org, 206 865-2665, and that the head of this Institute
admired this record, and obtained permission to sell tape cassette
copies of it.

they did an entire vinyl album, by that name. the churkendoose was one song on it. ray bolger not danny kaye. I grew up with that. I was born in 46 and it was recorded in 47.

the Churkendoose was Part Chicken, Turkey, Duck, and Goose; was a book first, actually 3 different small kids' books each a different story. Ray Bolger was the first to perform it. http://www.loc.gov/rr/record/nrpb/registry/essays/churkendoose%20essay.pdf will provide more information
