It's "Lola" by The Kinks.

Just found the lyrics.

Lola
The Kinks

I met her in a club down in North Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Cherry Cola
C-O-L-A Cola.

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola"
L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo Lola

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walks like a woman and talks like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night,
Under electric candlelight,
She picked me up and sat me on her knee,
She said, "Little boy won't you come home with me?"

Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
But when I looked in her eyes,
I almost fell for my Lola,
Lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola

I pushed her away. I walked to the door.
I fell to the floor. I got down on my knees.
I looked at her, and she at me.

Well that's the way that I want it to stay.
I always want it to be that way for my Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola.

Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,
except for Lola. Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.

Well I left how just a week before,
and I never ever kissed a woman before,
Lola smiled and took me by the hand,
she said, "Little boy, gonna make you a man."

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
but I know what I am and that I'm a man,
so is Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.

Gale I assume you're misremembering the lyrics to the Kinks 1970 hit
Lola which begins: "I met her in a club down in old Soho where you
drink champagne & it tastes just like cherry cola".

For what it's worth, the original studio recording of Lola (from the
album Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround) in fact said, "tastes just
like Coca Cola." Presumably, Coke complained, and the radio play cut
was redubbed to "Cherry Cola."

No, they introduced Cherry Coke. Cherry cola had been around for
years. It was common, in the days of real soda fountains, to mix sodas
with flavored syrups. Cherry, vanilla and lemon were popular
additives. I've heard that Coke is considering launching Vanilla Coke
soon, too. But cherry cola is a pretty generic concept. Dr. Pepper is
essentially a cherry cola, and there are plenty of other vendors of
cherry colas. There's even a restaurant chain in the US called Johnny
Rocket's that will still put syrups in your sodas for you. I had a
Lemon Coke onc that wasn't bad at all.

Cherry Coke was available almost from the beginning in the place you
went to in the old days to get a soda - the old fashioned soda
fountain. In fact, you could get Coca Cola with a squirt of ANY of
the fountain syrups. Cherry was just the most popular combo. You
could get strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and so on.

The decision to market Cherry Coke =in cans= 30 years after the song
LOLA is not linked to the song. Instead, using "cherry cola" was a
reference to something that had been around for maybe 70 years at the
time of the song. It existed, had the right number of syllables - and
wasn't a trademark if you didn't use "Coke" or "Coca Cola".

Pepsi also has a cherry version of their cola. Did you think that was
also a "rip-off" of the song?
