Purple People Eater? Dirty Water?

Does anyone remember the Purple People Eater (recorded by Sheb Wooley
in 58) and the words to that song? Was he the "one-eyed, one-horned,
flying purple people eater" (or one-armed)?
A totally unrelated question: from what year dates "Dirty Water" by
the Standells? (with the text "...but I love that dirty water... Oh,
Boston, you're my home" and the thumping beat)?

He was "one-horned". If no one with the huge lyrics servers gets back to you in a few
days, ask me and I'll transcribe it for you. BTW--Wooley was a multi-talented man. He
played cowpoke Pete Nolan on the TV western "Rawhide" (along with Clint Eastwood) and
later recorded novelty parodies of pop/country songs under the name of Ben Colder.
"Dirty Water" hit #11 in 1966.

I used to love this song when I was a kid. (Hi Janis! - She's the
kind person who gave this to me).
