In Carly Simon's hit "Your So Vain," was Mick Jagger singing in the background.
It sounds like him but I can't get this verified and there is no
acknowledgement.

I could swear Mick Jagger is also on the record.

Is it true that this song was written for Warren Beatty. (Did she go out with
him?) Or is this just a rumour that keeps going around the song?

Could somebody help.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure Mick Jagger played guitar and contributed vocals on that song. It kind of goes along with the joke, you're so vain, I bet you think this osng is about you, that a lot of guys were accused of being the subject of the song. Mick included.

I always thought that the song was about Mick Jagger...

The backing vocals are definately Mick Jagger, I'm sure I heard in a
Stones-special. But I don't know where you can get this verified, I'm also
looking.

In "Carly Simon Complete" (a music book of her first four albums, and
so not really very complete, but it was at the time...) there is an
interview conducted by her brother. In it, she talks about Mick Jagger
singing background vocals on "You're So Vain". She says she started
sounding like him after a while -- vain started coming out "vine" as
they recorded the chorus together.

She also says she had three or four different people in mind when she
wrote the song, but she doesn't say who they are.

Probably James Taylor (her ex husband)
