SOLVE THIS!! FREE FORECAST!!

Performers of "Somebody's Waiting For You"

PLEASE HELP!! I am researching the song "Somebody's Waiting For You." The
song was written in 1906 by Vincent Bryan, music by Albert Gumble. A Frank
Stanley recording of the song became well known in 1907 ("Pop Memories"
shows the song reaching #6 in April 1907). The song has been recorded
numerous times under at least 5 titles (Attachment 1). "Popular Music,
1900-1919" calls the song a waltz ballad POPULARIZED by Bessie Wynn, Bonita,
Harry A. Ellis and Trixie Friganza. Song Lyrics and original sheet music
links have been included as well (Attachments 2 & 3).

This song has tremendous sentimental value to my family. We believe my
great-grandmother started singing it to my grandmother in 1907. My
grandmother sang the song to my mother in the 30's. We didn't know the
title of the song until a couple weeks ago.

-->> It would be helpful if you can provide ANY additional info about the
artists Bessie Wynn, Bonita, Harry A. Ellis, Trixie Friganza, Frank C.
Stanley and Dorothy Drew (e.g., when they performed/recorded the song or
biographical info), as this info may clarify when my relatives learned this
song. I hope to share this, along with other info I assemble with my mother
on her birthday.

-->> ANY suggestions on other resources or contacts would be great! Feel
free to forward this to someone that might know. Thank you in advance for
your help!!

-- LYRICS ------------------------------------- Attachment B -------

--------------------------------------------------------------------

In a Cool Shady Nook, by the Side of the Brook,

Two Sweet Maidens were Fishing alone,

They Talked as They Fished, and the Younger Girl Wished,

for the Sweetheart She never had known,

The other Girl said, with a Toss of Her Head,

Cheer up Dear there's no cause to be Blue,

Your Love You've not met but He'll come to You yet,

for there's somebody waiting for You.

Somewhere, somebody's waiting for You, You, You,

Somewhere, somebody's longing Who's Heart is True,

Sometime, You'll Love Somebody Who Loves You Too,

Somewhere, Somebody's waiting for You, You, You.

Then a Youth passing by, heard Her Sister's Reply,

and He Joined in Their Chat, Half in Fun,

He said It is True, Someone's waiting for You,

and I wish You Thought, I was the One,

She paused for awhile, and She said with a Smile,

I'm not sure, but you may be It's true,

But if You are Wrong, Why You won't worry long,

for there's somebody waiting for You.

Somewhere, somebody's waiting for You, You, You,

Somewhere, somebody's longing Who's Heart is True,

Sometime, You'll Love Somebody Who Loves You Too,

Somewhere, Somebody's waiting for You, You, You.

The song existed as early as 1906 when shown copyrighted at the sheet music
link below. Note that it is shown here as performed by Dorothy Drew;
however, other literature suggests Frank Stanley made a hit of it by 1907.
