Who Will Save your Soul

People living their lives for you on TV
They say they're better than you and you agree
Another burger, another hot dog, some fries
A wish in the well, hope your health don't go to hell, well
Another doctor's bill, another lawyer's bill
Another cute cheap thrill
You know you love him if you put him in your will

CHORUS:

Who will save your soul when it comes to the flower
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you won't save your own?

We try to hustle them, to bustle them, to cuss them
The cops want someone to bust down on Orleans Avenue
Another day, another dollar, another war, another tower
Went up there where the homeless have their homes
So we pray to as many gods as there are flowers
But we call religion our friend
We're so worried about saving our souls
Afraid that God will take His toll
That we forget to begin

CHORUS

Some are walking, some are talking, some are stalking their kill
You got social security, but that doesn't pay your bills
Their are addictions to feed and there are mouths to pay
So you bargain with the Devil, say you're okay for today,
You say you love them, take their money and run
Say, it's been swell sweetheart, but it was just one of those things
Those flings, those strings you've got to cut,
So get out on the streets, girls, and bust your...butts.

CHORUS

Hi Gail - Posted these several months ago, but here they are again...
I copied them from the liner notes to Pieces of You, the album on which
the song appears (great song!!).

WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL

Afraid that God will take his toll

tempt fate
And for them I would not disagree
But I never learned nothing from
playing it safe
I say fate should not tempt me

It is a great song, but when I looked at the lyrics, two of the lines in
the first verse didn't seem right. I ifgured maybe they were just two
lines that didn't stick in my memory, but this morning I was reading the
lyrics on the liner notes while listening to the cd and the two lines
aren't even close. I've seen lyrics in the liner notes wrong before but
usually they're pretty close.

I've added what I heard in the songs. I couldn't make out the one word.

>WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL
>- Jewel Kilcher

>People living their lives for on TV
>They say they're better than you, And ayou agree
>Another burger, a hot dog, some fries

He says hold my calls from behind the ???

>A wish in the well, hope your health don't go to hell, well

The boss says come here boy there ain't nothing for free
