Thanks!
Hi:
Sorry, don't have the lyrics, but it was written by
singer/songwriter/pianist Laura Nyro, and I think there's a
lyric sheet w/album/CD.
If that's not enough to help you find this at CD store
(Nyro's on Columbia Records) or help you get sheet music from
your local music store, e-mail me and I'll see if I have the
lyrics around my house somewhere.
Nyro also wrote "Stoned Soul Picnic," "Eli's Coming," "Stoney
End," and a whole bunch of great songs with a sort of
Broadway/rock/soul feel.
Her songs were also recorded by Barbra Streisand, Three Dog
Night, and others.
Nyro rarely performed in her 30+ year career, choosing to
spend more time as a parent. But if you look at her
albums/CDs, you'll recognize many great songs she wrote.
They're well worth buying. If you like any of the above
songs, you'll definitely want to find her on CD. I've got
several myself.
Her "Gonna Take a Miracle" album/CD of cover songs is also
cool. Nyro's version of "Up on the Roof" is great.
Sad to say Laura Nyro died earlier this year.
Maybe she's cowriting with Hoagie Carmichael as I write
this...
Hope this helps,
Neil
Bill, I love you so I always will
I look at you and see the passion eyes of May
Oh, but am I ever gonna see my wedding day
I was on your side Bill when you were loosin'
I never scheme or lie Bill there's been no foolin'
But kisses and love won't carry me til you marry me Bill
I love you so I always will
And in your voice I hear a choir of carousels
Oh, but am I ever gonna hear my wedding bells
I was the one who came runnin when you were lonely
I haven't lived one day not lovin' you only
But kisses and love won't carry me til you marry me Bill
I love you so I always will
And though devotion rules my heart I take no bows
But Bill you're never gonna take those wedding vows
Oh come on Bill
Oh come on Bill
Come on and marry me Bill
I got the wedding bell blues
Please marry me Bill
I got the wedding bell blues...
Marry me Bill
Brenda
