Anyone know this song (maybe from the late 70's)?

At least that's when I think I remember hearing it. I don't remember the
name of the song or the singer but I do remember a lot of the lyrics. I've
searched Google and various sites and asked everyone I know and have come up
with nothing. I might think that maybe I hallucinated it but I don't think
I'm capable of making up all the lyrics I remember.

Here are the parts that are still in my head (I believe the singer is male
and the tone is sort of laid back):

I've seen the opera house in Sydney and the temples of Bombay,
Seen the seagulls skim the whitecaps over San Francisco Bay...

I've climbed up the Eiffel Tower, floated down the River Nile,
Seen the bullfights in Madrid, and watched those señoritas smile...

...And the ruins of old Rome...

...I've seen the palm trees of Tahiti and the sands of Waikiki...

they are not necessarily in the correct order). I believe the singer is

I'm relatively sure that the key to the song has something to do with home
(and rhymes with Rome above) and that the title is probably right in there
somewhere. I just can't come up with the exact words.

If anyone can help, it would bring my long, lonely odyssey to an end (I've
been searching for this song off and on since 1995).

Thanks in advance,
Kent

"Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick"

In the deserts of Sudan
And the gardens of Japan
From Milan to Yucatán
Every woman, every man

Hit me with your rhythm stick

Hit me! Hit me!
Je t'adore, ich liebe dich
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

Hit me with your rhythm stick

Hit me slowly, hit me quick
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

In the wilds of Borneo
And the vineyards of Bordeaux
Eskimo, Arapaho
Move their body to and fro

Hit me with your rhythm stick

Hit me! Hit me!
Das ist gut, c'est fantastique
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

Hit me with your rhythm stick

It's nice to be a lunatic
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!
Hit me! Hit me! Hit...

In the dock of Tiger Bay
On the road to Mandalay
From Bombay to Santa Fé
O'er the hills and far away

Hit me with your rhythm stick

Hit me! Hit me!
C'est si bon, ist es nicht
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

Hit me with your rhythm stick

Two fat persons, click, click, click
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

Hit me!
Hit me!
Hit me!
Hit me!
Hit me!
Hit me! Hit me!
Hit me!

Nope. That's not it. I haven't ever heard that song. I know the song I'm
thinking of contains the lyrics cited above.

Thanks for trying but I'm still looking.
