There is a song by Tori Amos, I think it was on her first CD. I can't
remember the exact title, but I think it has the word 'gun' in it.
Good luck in your search and counselling.
Im not 100% sure, but I'm fairly sure that this one song "Janie's Got
a Gun" by Aerosmith is something relating to at least the domestic
violence issue.
There's plenty of more songs I'm sure talking about rape indirectly.
Most of the songs aren't talking about rape outright. Gotta listen to
the words.
Good luck.

I think 'Polly' by Nirvana is about a woman being raped, but I'm not sure

To be more specific, it's about a girl who ends up shooting her father
because he rapes her. The song originally used the word "raped" in one
of the lines but the record company had them change it to the word
"jacked" because they were planning on releasing it as a single and
thought the public would be turned off by the use of the word. They
still use the original lyric when they do the song live, though.
The video is also pretty intense. They were serious enough about the
video to use actual movie actors and actresses, such as leslie ann
warren.

All the responses to this request, and no one has ever mentioned
"Johnny Hit and Run Pauline", a song by a great early 80's L.A. punk
band that eventually stopped playing it, because all the skinhead
bastards kept showing up to their shows and shoving their fists in the
air, as if to say, "Yeah!", because they didn;t even have enough
functional neurons left to realize that the song was anti-date-rape in
nature.

That song would be "Sex Type Thing", off the the "Core" album by Stone

The song "Face To Face" from Scottish band "Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie"
is about a girl being raped and then being blamed for it herself.
The name of the album is "Fish Heads and Tails" and the year is
1989. There is a homepage of the band at

I'm not too sure if this is right, but I was told that DRIVE by The Cars was
about a girl's breakdown after the rape.
Janie's Got A Gun - Aerosmith? (Well, it's really about incest but...well..)
Polly - Nirvana? (But not Rape Me which was about the media)
Me And My Gun - Tori Amos?
She's Not All There - Candy Ranch?
???Radio??? - Helen Reddy
Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots ? (Really, it is from a rapist's POV)
& there was this haunting song. It goes: " Coulda have caught a train,
coulda have caught a bus, but I walked. I walked into my foolishness.
I dida know. I dida know, but I died. But... I survived...with a deep
need to kill. A deep need to tear them apart. A deep need to....cry.." This was
sang by a male vocalist. I think it was circa 1970s(?)
Sorry for being vague - but if you ask for FILMS - no problem...I can think of a
few. Wish you and those brave people the best of luck.

Well, it's not really about rape, but it has rape in the title...
Ministry's "Land of Rape and Honey"...
and Marilyn Manson's "Cake And Sodomy" contains the line
"..who said date rape isn't kind..."
Can't believe no one's mentioned Midnight Rambler by The Rolling
Stones.
White Knuckles by Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids.
Rape Me - Nirvana (Not really about rape but mentions it a lot)
Let's not forget STP's "Sex Type Thing". I think the song was written
about a female friend of one of the band member's who was a victim of
date rape.

RAPE ME (Nirvana) isn't about being raped - it's a metaphor Kurt Cobain
used to describe the pressures and invasion he felt about his sudden and
unmanagable fame ...
Perhaps it WAS a metaphor, but even the vaguest of metaphors have symbolic
meaning--That's what makes them metaphors. The song may not be about being
raped in the traditional sense, but it does concern a form of psychological
torture that one could well imagine to be quite akin to that felt by rape
victims. I do agree with you, however, that this type of rape may not be
exactly what the originator of the thread had in mind.
